Next week, the Senate will begin making changes to and, hopefully, improve the immigration-reform legislation I introduced with several colleagues last month. This part of the process is a chance to fix America's broken immigration system and end today's de facto amnesty for those who live here illegally. It will also show that Washington can work when leaders listen to the American people and invoke their wisdom in debates and legislative work.
In January, I outlined my principles for conservative immigration reform in these pages—principles that guided the drafting of this legislation. These include securing the borders; requiring all employers to verify their workers' eligibility and severely penalizing them if they hire illegal immigrants; cracking down on legal immigrants who overstay visas; and modernizing the legal immigration system to meet America's 21st-century economic needs for both highly skilled talent and guest workers to fill labor shortages.

Rubio pedals lies. In fact, like all “comprehensive” bills, the Amnesty bill is designed to conceal lies in hundred of pagers of near-inpenetrable lawyerese.
Borders are NOT going secured. They’re just going to form a commission or something like that to “study” border security.
Gang members and illegal alien drunk drivers are not going to be deported.
Illegals will have access to welfare as soon as they have a legal status.
BTW: Discussion of this bill has ALREADY caused illegal immigration to surge.
The bill needs to go to Hell, and so does Rubio and the “Gang of Eight.”

Rubio just excluded himself from further consideration.
I don’t get it. We see before our eyes our own Federales not following the laws on the books to protect our borders and toss out the illegals. Why would be expect them to act any differently under some adjusted set of laws? Is he stupid, or does he think we are?

We have an immigration problem because the last 4 presidents have not seen fit to enforce the existing laws.
Now they want to put in new laws that nobody will enforce but will legalize all the lawbreakers.
The Republicans have turned a blind eye to appease their Corporate donors and the Democrats have turned a blind eye because they need the votes from these people. The cemetaries don't provide a renewable source of phantom voters.
