Democrats and Republicans continue to be divided over the need for new gun control laws, and the most recent national survey of registered voters from Fairleigh Dickinson Universitys PublicMind finds that attitudes regarding the perceived likelihood of an armed revolution to protect liberties and the truth about the Sandy Hook shooting are helpful in explaining this partisan divide. Nearly three-quarters (73%) of Democrats say that Congress needs to pass new laws to protect the public from gun violence, but the views of Republicans are almost completely opposite: 65 percent dont think new laws are necessary. Overall, registered voters are divided over the need for new gun control legislation. Fifty percent agree it is needed, with 39 percent who disagree.
If there was a bipartisan moment after Sandy Hook to pass gun control legislation, its past, said Dan Cassino, a professor of political science at Fairleigh Dickinson, and an analyst for the poll. Partisan views have strongly re-asserted themselves, and theres no sign that theyll get any weaker.
Partisan divisions on gun control go deeper than the legislation being fought over in Congress. Supporters and opponents of gun control have very different fundamental beliefs about the role of guns in American society. Overall, the poll finds that 29 percent of Americans think that an armed revolution in order to protect liberties might be necessary in the next few years, with another five percent unsure. However, these beliefs are conditional on party. Just 18 percent of Democrats think an armed revolution may be necessary, as opposed to 44 percent of Republicans and 27 percent of independents.

The storm clouds are gathering .....
What??? The Worst Leader keeps telling us that someone took a poll and 90% of the sheeple want more gun laws. He wouldn’t be LYING to us, would he?
29% of the people who answered honestly.
ping!
It is impossible that such a great president and perfect human being as nobama would lie, isn’t it?
We knew more about “Speed Bump”, his brother, wife, lunatic mother and father and the intire F’ed up family in 24 hours than we do about Lanza in 5 months.
Any one see a problem here??Like maybe Lanza was loonier than all of them combined!!
“The storm clouds are gathering .....”
It’s all about our military and which way they would go.....
Bipartisan moments in Washington have a lifespan of about one news cycle.
Party breakdown in a poll which new gun laws got 50% approval
45% Dems
35% GOPers
20% Other
BTW, if it's a poll of "registered voters" by FDU, many of them won't bother to vote next year, it's even worse for the gun grabbers than it seems.
Based on what happened after Feinstein's AWB 1.0, there are likely a lot of Llewelyn Mosses who didn't bother to come out to vote last November who will be out in force in November 2014.
When I lived in New jersey (perish the memory!) they referred to this dump as “Fairly Ridiculous U”
I guess it would be 90% if you polled Maddow’s MSNBC audience of 10-
;)
We can see how the generals are dancing to the tune of the pied pipers social agenda.
29% of the population is wide awake and paying attention! Much more than I would have guessed...
The question that none seem to be asking the gun control pushers is
what is it that you want to do after the people are disarmed that you can’t do now?
There is a third option: those who don’t want a total gun ban, and support “common sense” gun laws. These idiot fence-straddlers are the worst kind be aide they’re so stupid and so self-righteous that they fail to see the path their new gun laws forge to total gun confiscation. You cannot reason with these morons because they truly think more gun laws would protect both sides. Dummies.
Your pic is dead-on & absolute truth! Wonder how the ding dong liberals in Watertown, MA feel after being dragged, at gun point, out of their homes with absolutely zero probable cause? Unreasonable search & seizure, anyone?? A little martial law??
