Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III on Tuesday complained about the tyranny of political correctness currently holding Americans hostage. His comments, posted on his official Twitter account, come as some people are demanding the Redskins change their team name because of its racist meaning.
In a land of freedom we are held hostage by the tyranny of political correctness, Griffin tweeted. The comment may seem innocent, but it was enough to send the left into a frenzy, as noted on Twitchy.
Several of the criticisms hurled at Griffin seemingly accuse the QB of not knowing the definition of tyranny. Because they failed to understand the meaning behind his words, Griffin later felt compelled to explain to outraged Twitter users that tyranny has more than one meaning. He also followed up with a fitting quote following the angry response to his tweet: If we speak..we say it the wrong way If we do not speak we are cowards .
All that being said, Griffin also found a lot of support from other Twitter users.

Their war cry would be “Let me be clear!”
Good for him.
bump
Of course it’s not the native Americans, it’s the wine swisher metrosexuals that want it changed
Golly! He just earned a fan. I mean, big time. IF they dont make him recant. And I speak as one of a long line of REAL redskins,”
Native Americans call themselves Indian or by the name of their nation. Never could understand those why we cant just use the French word, aborigines. We got here first.
For the PC folks, how about changing from the “Redskins” to the “Rednecks”. I think you would hear a different kind of bitching........flushing out both the floaters and sinkers in the lavatory receptacle.
LOL! He is making it harder for me to dislike him, being a Cowboys fan and all. I guess I can dislike Eli and the Gints even more The Iggles too
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are no longer using this logo:
so just change the colors to burgandy and gold, and voila! - no more racist identity.
“I can dislike Eli and the Gints even more The Iggles too”
Ya, thats what you call a given... err. Not that theres anything wrong with liking the Giants. (cough) or the Eagles for that matter, Its just, well, not kosher down here. Got a go, someone claiming to be Archie, is pounding at my door.
Dang! I was hoping to adopt him. Or, have him adopt me.
As an longtime “fanatic” of the Dallas Cowboys, I understand your pain...
...but(SSssssssh ) ...the more I hear about him, the more I like him, too. SSssssssh )
Sounds like fun to me.
Sounds like RGIII just read Jonah Goldberg’s book The Tyranny of Cliches - How the Left cheats in the war of ideas.
Great book as was Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism which still has the distinction of best book cover ever.
I’m sorry, I was overtaken by a fit of political correctness and not wanting to offend. In colloquial conversation with my kids, we refer to Indians as Indians or American Indians as contrasted with Asian Indians. Nonetheless, I think Redskins is a good team name, obviously what the name is attempting to convey.
He was a likeable player before these comments. I hope he has a long career.
This guy can play for me anytime!
