Nearly 30 people were arrested downtown on Saturday night for disturbances that ranged from bumping into passersby on sidewalks to attacking passengers aboard a CTA train, authorities said, citing preliminary information.

Rahm will have to restore public order downtown and on the EL Red Line train if he does not want to see the city decline in a Detroit style death spiral. The Red Line runs from the crime ridden neighborhoods of the South Side, to and through the downtown business/entertainment/dining/tourist district and up through the North side, a residential area inhabited by decent people who go to work every day. Both Sox Park and the Cubs Wrigley Field are just steps from the RedLine. It is virtually impossible to park downtown and department stores and Wrigley Field have no parking at all, while Sox Park has insufficient parking. As it stands now, thugs can board trains on the South Side--often by rushing the turnstiles to avoid paying fares—and ride the entire system, terrorizing the decent folk who use the train to go to work, medical appointments, entertainment and shopping. In a city where only the criminals can be armed, the thugs can menace decent passengers without fear. The wonderful public transit system is life of blood of the city. But Emmanuel needs to police it. Otherwise decent people will move to and drive to shopping and dining in the adjacent suburbs. And watch the CUBS AND SOX ON tv.

And people wonder why I don't want to see a rail system to go from Detroit through Inkster to Ann Arbor.

Of course they are! These flash mobs started with the distribution of Obama Phones. Didn’t he say, “Get in their faces!”?
These terrorists don’t work and pay monthly phone bills. The victims pay for the attackers’ phones.

Our system of helping the poor hasnt helped. We now have generations of Dem voters who vote to give away money with no accountability. It appears to have accomplished its goal, though.

Don’t know where you live, but here in Indianapolis that is becoming the case. For years the big downtown merchants and the city fathers were able to talk the media into not reporting what going on downtown at the big mall and other places like the Circle, but the problem has gotten so much bigger and more violent they can’t hide it anymore. Gang retaliation shootings along the canal walk, violence at the CC Mall, random acts of violence against people leaving resturants etc. have become the norm. It is now moving out to the malls on the edges of town. Just had a killing at one a couple of weeks ago and a near riot and shooting across the street from one of the others. I can’t speak for other cities, but in Indy the Bla ..... uh Amish youth problem is getting out of control.

Built a Greenway in Indy that runs from the heart of gangland to some nice upper class suburbs. A easy gateway for the reprobates. Crime in the northern suburbs served by the trail has increased as has crime on the trail. Now they want to build mass transit to facilitate the movement of crime even quicker to the suburbs. We’re fighting it, but the powers that be with the financial backing of the feds are pushing hard.
