Built a Greenway in Indy that runs from the heart of gangland to some nice upper class suburbs. A easy gateway for the reprobates. Crime in the northern suburbs served by the trail has increased as has crime on the trail. Now they want to build mass transit to facilitate the movement of crime even quicker to the suburbs. We’re fighting it, but the powers that be with the financial backing of the feds are pushing hard.
Don’t know Indy well, but was at an event at the fairgrounds. 38th st looked like Detroit.
This is one reason I’ll probably never buy a house. Here in L.A. they would like to build a rail that will move people from downtown through West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. There’s already a bus system, but it’s very slow, and thugs seem to prefer subways. If that happens, and crime starts to go up, and tagging becomes the norm in my neighborhood, I want to be able to up and leave within months. I’m sure I’m not the only one who considers that sort of thing when they contemplate the eternal buy-vs-rent conundrum: Do you want to invest in an area that will go down and you’ll either be trapped there, or go broke trying to escape?
