American gun rights advocates said Thursday that they remain determined to block a far-reaching U.S. agreement on international arms sales, warning that the pact could lead to a national firearms registry and disrupt the U.S. gun market, even as the accord ran into an unexpected last-minute snag in negotiations in New York.
In its budget debate last weekend, the Senate approved a nonbinding amendment opposing the treaty offered by Sen. James M. Inhofe, Oklahoma Republican, with eight Democrats joining all 45 Republicans backing the amendment.
Despite the Senate vote, numerous groups have pressured Mr. Obama to support the treaty. Amnesty International staged a rally in front of the White House to highlight the number of innocent people around the world who have been killed by trafficked weapons.
The treaty now will go before the General Assembly, where it is expected to win overwhelming approval.

Just watch Obama support the treaty, which basically nullifies our Second Amendment rights.

How about we just save $7.6+ Billion/yr and quit the UN?
Nations optimistic about UN global arms trade treaty deal
Supporters of a U.N. treaty designed to regulate the multibillion-dollar global arms trade were optimistic that a final draft circulated a day before Thursday’s deadline will reach consensus.
Negotiators reconvened last week in a final attempt to reach a deal on the Arms Trade Treaty, which would require all countries to establish national regulations to control the transfer of conventional arms and to regulate arms brokers.
U.N. diplomats, speaking on condition of anonymity because negotiations have been private, said Wednesday the United States was virtually certain to go along with the latest text.
We are not obligated to abide by this law. The senate will not ratify this by 2/3, and the states will not abide by any law infringing on their sovereignty. If the UN wants to start a war with American people, they’re going to get it.
Cue the countdown to the manufactured “crisis” to win back waning public support for gun control...

It would be good for the Republic to have (1) a treaty thrown out by the Supreme Court as unconstitutional, and (2) a successful prosecution for treason, with a death sentence given and carried out.
Seems it was “stalled” by Iran, Syria, and N. Korea....

The UN Arms Trade Treaty and the Gun Grab
http://www.heritage.org/research/commentary/2013/3/the-un-arms-trade-treaty-and-the-gun-grab
“But the problem is bigger than the Second Amendment. Under this new approach, the U.S. government is not merely (or even not primarily) supposed to transmit the choices of the American people into the world at large: it is supposed to receive the views of the world at large and transmit them to (or enforce them upon) the American people. That “swirling interactive process” could just as easily be used to “download” norms that would seek to change the meaning of the First Amendment, or the laws of war.”
How about we just save $7.6+ Billion/yr and quit the UN?
I second that, and add we evict the U.N. from the U.S.
The treaty is not constitutional. The presidents support would be unconstitutional.
The constitution belongs to the People, not their SERVANT, the President.
The UN won’t override the second amendment. A large pile of dead bodies will result.
Obama is already chipping away at it using executive powers.
Obama uses executive power to move gun control agenda forward
And they can taked the Dept of Education, Energy and the EPA with them.
Here’s the problem:
“American gun rights advocates said Thursday that they remain determined to block a far-reaching U.S. agreement on international arms sales, warning that the pact could lead to a national firearms registry and disrupt the U.S. gun market”
This is too mild.
American gunowners should be warning the Nazi leftists that they’ll be hanging from lampposts.
Ya. And open the building to the homeless and druggies.
Constitutional Limitations on the Treaty Power

“As statutes may be held void because they contravene the Constitution, it should follow that treaties may be held void, the Constitution being superior to both. And indeed the Court has numerous times so stated.”
TREATIES DO NOT SUPERCEDE THE CONSTITUTION

Treaties

[Excerpt:]
Thomas Jefferson was clear on this point: "If the treaty power is unlimited, then we don't have a Constitution. Surely the President and the Senate cannot do by treaty what the whole government is interdicted from doing in any way." Alexander Hamilton agreed: "a treaty cannot be made which alters the Constitution of the country or which infringes any express exceptions to the power of the Constitution of the United States."(2)
In spite of all of the obvious above, some people doggedly insist that "treaties supersede the Constitution" because they want treaties to supersede the Constitution so they can escape the chains of the Constitution! And they plan and scheme relentlessly toward achieving that end. Some even boast of having made an end run around the Constitution.
US out of the UN, UN off US soil!
The government cannot "nullify" a preexisting right.
Elections have consequences...
So do words.
Exactly!
