The Mini-Ice Age has Arrived

Climatologists and meteorologists are familiar with the last Mini Ice Age (MIA) that occurred between 1350 and 1850 AD. It is also referred to as the Little Ice Age. Suffice to say it was cold and, as such weather cycles tend to do, it altered history in a variety of ways.

The failure of crops was one aspect of the cold spell and in France the revolution that overthrew the monarchy is attributed to the unhappiness of its citizens, but famine in the northern hemisphere was widespread. In the United States, it is best recalled for the horrid winter our revolutionary war soldiers spent at Valley Forge. At one point during the cycle Americans spent what they called “a year without summer” when the weather remained too cold to plant crops.

Since climate is cyclical, it is not surprising that the MIA followed the Medieval Warm Period, also known as a climate optimum. Crops flourished, empires rose and declined, and neither cycle had a thing to do with so-called greenhouse gas emissions such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and everything to do with what was happening on the sun.

As spring arrives in the U.S., there was also a broad band of snow storms that comes with it.

One of the world’s most respected long-term climate forecasters is Piers Corbyn, an astrophysicist whose expertise is relied upon by corporations and others who need to know what the weather will really be as opposed to the criminally false claims about global warming. His website, WeatherAction, is well worth visiting.

I see Obama The Magnificent has successfully slowed Global Warming and stopped the rising of the seas.

Heck, in the space of one hour outside just now I saw hail, snow, sleet, rain, graupel. All on top of a mini-blizzard last night.

“The failure of crops was one aspect of the cold spell “

Hmmm, just as I thought, warmer is better, cold is worse. probably why not much life at the poles...

One point of note that’s often neglected is that the “recent ice age” is not actually over. We are still in it.

Geologists define an ice age as when you have 24x7 ice at sea level anywhere.

Within an ice age, there are glaciations where the ice advances significantly.

Wooly mammoth time marked the end of the last glaciation within this ice age, not the end of the ice age itself.

The current ice age has been going on about 4 million years.

Within that time there have been 60 glaciations. That’s 60 times the ice has advance AND retreated across north america.

The link below is a nice reference.

What a load of B.S..During the 1950’s when I was a Kid we had very cold and snowy winters. Then came the 1960’s same thing happened then.

The 1970’s arrived and in 1977 it was so cold and snowy the Roof of the Hartford Civic Center Collapsed just hours after a sporting event ended.

Then the Eighties and the Nineties arrived and we had cold and snowy weather.

The Point is we’re not going into a mini ice-age at all.Its called winter and when winters come it snows and snow falls.

These money grabbing chicken littles need to find other things to worry about.

Mini-Ice Age has arrived? I’d disagree with you if I hadn’t been driving through a God-awful blizzard last night, 2 days before spring.

So in other words, warmer = better, and the cold is actually hurting us. Wonder why it’s such a big deal to actually talk about frost on the news?

Interesting that the North American epicenter for glaciation is thought to be Hudson Bay, while Alaska and western Canada had no major glaciation at all.

ROFL

We were blessed with only 2 inches of the white stuff during the night. Then sleet. Now wet heavy snow. Four inches this past hour and it's 33F. Go figure. Warm snow.

Everyone ... close your eyes and relax and think about a crop failure in the year 1300 ... or 1600 ... or 1800.

Got it?

Now, subliminally in your mind, did you see Your John Deere out of gas, or the cost of fertilizer skyrocketing, or the mule had pneumonia and you couldn't afford a penicilin shot or ...

DID you ?

OK, open your eyes and come back to reality.

We see everything through our modern consciosness. NONE of us can truly imagine anything so far ago as hmmmm ... 1900.

So every model used to predict the weather or determine a standard/profile/program is bogus unless it is based on the REAL data collected from calendars preserved from 1932 (f'rinstance) off'n the kitchen wall of an old Indiana farmhaose before being destroyed to make way for a highway or shopping mall with Jeb's notes; "colder'n a wichistit today, eggs are down, going back t'bed, maw feels good"

ain't worth spit.

A mini ice age is about as relevant as global warming. There is presently no science to back up either.

There have been ice ages and warm periods. Some force of nature caused the alternating periods of cold and hot. In order to accept the idea of manmade global warming, you have to assume that the natural force of nature has ceased.

We’ll be fine either way. We will shift crops accordingly. Also America covers a wide climatic band anyway.

The reason for Easter Eggs is because before modern times hens did not lay eggs in winter. Spring signaled the time when eggs became available.
