Israels Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have one key question for President Barack Obama when they meet Wednesday: If push comes to shove, will America attack Iran to stop the Iranians from developing a nuclear bomb?
Obama has a question of his own, just as critical. Will Israel promise not to attack Iran without American approval?
Ahead of the U.S. president's trip, Israels President Shimon Peres described Iran as the greatest threat to peace in the world.
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu points to a red line he has drawn on a graphic of a bomb used to represent Iran's nuclear program as he addresses the United Nations General Assembly in September last year.
He made the remark in a March 12 speech to the European Parliament in Strasburg, but he likely had Washington in mind.
On paper there is little light between the U.S. and Israeli positions. Obama and Netanyahu both say they will not permit Iran to obtain nuclear weapons. They both hope sanctions and political pressure will do the job. Both say all options are open, including military.
So how come neither trusts the other?

Obama thinks this is a big joke...He knows Iran isn’t going to hit the USA and doesn’t give a crap about Israel and any treaties we have with them.
In January of 2010 Obama privately told the Egyptian ambassador that after he got Obamacare passed he would focus on the “Muslim agenda” - which Obama said he supports because he was and still is a Muslim.
That’s all Israel needs to know. Don’t trust a word Obama says unless it is said in secret hoping nobody would find out. He is a liar. If he publicly says he supports Israel, it means he is ready to stab them in the back. When the political winds blow in an ugly direction, he said, he will always stand with the Muslims.
Why fight to gain a couple years? Because in a couple years Israel’s former great ally, the United States, may come out from occupation by a foreign enemy combatant in our White House.
The world knows or should know Beezle is bluster, Valerie would never permit a strike on Iran.
Bibi means it.
There’s a fox in the hen house.
The context was to possible anti-muslim attacks in this country after 9/11.
IMO a wishy washy American president is the worlds biggest threat to peace.
Obama has lied, dissembled and been evasive his entire life. You simply cannot negotiate with, or rely on, someone like him who specializes in deceit and false promises.
Given the way we’ve seen the man operate since he came on the scene, do you trust that context to mean his intentions aren’t what is implied on this thread?
“IMO a wishy washy American president is the worlds biggest threat to peace.”

Completely agree with your opinion. The ultimate irony may be that due to his irresolute waffling, threats increase around the world to the point that we have no choice but to significantly increase the defense budget (the last thing Dems want to do). One of many examples of this type of outcome is the North Korean missile threat.
Theres a fox in the hen house.

A variation of that aphorism is a Rat in the woodpile. :)
That's why I don't believe that Bibi will actually ask Obama if he would order a US strike.
How about "There's a Muslim in the Whitehouse".
Thanks John W.

All adults have known someone like Obama at some time, anyone who has should know better than to place one iota of confidence in anything he says. He wakes up in a new world every day and whatever he said yesterday is non-applicable today. What is amazing is that some never learn.
