I. Introduction Social media platforms are changing the way organizations are communicating to the public Conversations are happening all the time and everywhere. There is need for the Communications Group to be timely and proactively aware of the reactions and opinions expressed by the general public as it relates to the Federal Reserve and its actions on a variety of subjects.
II. Social Listening Platforms Social media listening platforms are solutions that gather data from various social media outlets and news sources. They monitor billions of conversations and generate text analytics based on predefined criteria. They can also determine the sentiment of a speaker or writer with respect to some topic or document. The information gathered can guide the organizations public relations group in assessing the effectiveness of communication strategies.
Here are some of the services it can offer: o Track reach and spread of your messages and press releases o Handle crisis situations o Continuously monitor conversations o Identify and reach out to key bloggers and influencers o Spot emerging trends, discussions themes and topics
A. Geographic scope of social media sites The solution must support content coming from different countries and geographical regions. It should also support multiple languages.
B. Content and Data Types The solution must be able to gather data from the primary social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Forums and YouTube. It should also be able to aggregate data from various media outlets such as: CNN, WSJ, Factiva etc.
C. Reports and Metrics The solution must provide real-time monitoring of relevant conversations. It should provide sentiment analysis (positive, negative or neutral) around key conversational topics. It must be able to provide summaries or high level overviews of a specific set of topics. It should have a configurable dashboard that can easily be accessed by internal analysts or management. The dashboard must support customization by user or group access. The solution should provide an alerting mechanism that automatically sends out reports or notifications based a predefined trigger.
D. FRBNY Technology Integration The solution must be able to integrate with existing FRBNY technologies such as: Google Search appliance, Lotus notes suite and web trends. It must have support for single sign on or windows integrated authentication.
E. Cost Structure The solution should offer a flexible pricing structure that can support multiple user licensing. It should also have the option to base pricing on content volume and usage. Supplier acknowledges an understanding of and agrees to comply with the above minimum solutions requirements.
Yeah, me too. Don’t want to catch Breitbart’s Syndrome.
In any case, this is my thinking on the matter. Just in case.

Indeed. Buuuump!
OK, not surprising, just that I hadn’t done any research, now I know, thanks!
Thanks, Jim ....................................................................................... FRegards
Please put me on any ping lists you have, especially the “I’d hit it” list which may or may not exist.
Worst case I might have to ask you to remove me from a list or two but it won’t be from the only list mentioned. You’re an FR treasure. Thanks. ;-)
>> Just to offset the doom and gloom, Republicans are doing great at the state and local level.
Had disagreements with some stale crackers here complaining the Republican party is useless and should be abandoned.
It’s about the grassroots, and the past few elections including midterms have produced some great Congressional members. We must continue to support those elected, and get more of the same. I’ll call it the Palin Doctrine.
>> When the people fear the government, we have tyranny.
>> When the government fears the people, we have Liberty!!
>> And thus the 2nd amendment. Long may she live!!
>> The founders were very wise men.
Well, that motivated my quarterly contribution.
Will also match one and only one contribution of exactly $100.00 US that must be pledged by end of day Wednesday, Feb 6, 2013, Tango TZ.
You are added!
Just yankin’ Laz’s chain... :)
Command of the air is way over-rated; it is command of the ground that matters*. -- This is why the Russia was bled out over Afghanistan, as one story had it a general [or was it 'governor'] said "during the day we control thousands of miles, during the night we control a few blocks."
* W/o 'ground' the air-force is dead, with the limit of their fuel-tank being their operational limit -- aircraft carriers are themselves a bit of 'land' in the sea, but even they aren't true land because they can't produce all the things necessary to keep things up in the air w/o real ground.
I'll disagree; the 11th should be that the federal government could not pass law excepted any of its agents from the law's effect.
Not only do I think that FR is being monitored, I am pretty sure I was hit up on a private message by a fed posing as a “violent” TEA Partier after I posted a few of my more passionate anti-big government rants.
As if I’d be stupid enough to conspire something like that with someone I don’t know personally and on the internet...
Ok, Facebook is a public platform. If you go out into the street and tell something, you can’t get upset if other people hear it. Including law enforcement.
If you worked in law enforcement and investigations, you would use Facebook as a tool to help you, wouldn’t you? I’m only referring to public information that is disclosed, not private.
I guess it depends on what they mean by “monitoring”
But, if they mean they use it to say...track fugitives, then it’s not illegal and it’s smart in their part.
As far as FR posting, well, if your name isn’t connected, that makes the tracking a lot more difficult. But, even still, first amendment still applies. I could care less if the government sees what I have to say publicly.
My”theory” is that the gov WANTS us to know/think they monitor it all so we’ll “tamper down” any speech that doesn’t agree with them. It only makes me wanna shout louder.... Just a few thoughts. I could be totally wrong here since I didn’t bother to really read the article.
No social networking for me, not since the classification of conservatives as right wing terrorists. I used to post on FR all day long and in the early morning, now its possibly a few short neutral comments.
The internet has become a Venus fly trap for the out of control government, and too many people are addicted to it. Eawst Germany Secret Police actually had a warehouse of containers of individual peoples scent, taken from them should the police need to track them down, now the feds have an isp number or some other identifier and tracking cookie, frankly any day now I will just unplug the web because just being on it will be dangerous.
The dictatorship is getting desperate to stop the growing 2A rebellion of its progressive agenda, and the web will be the battlefield.
For any CIA trolls, up yours, you are not gods.
“We are looking for Predictive Modeling/Data Mining Scientists and Analysts, at both the senior and junior level, to join our department through November 2012 at our Chicago Headquarters,” read the ad. “We are a multi-disciplinary team of statisticians, predictive modelers, data mining experts, mathematicians, software developers, general analysts and organizers - all striving for a single goal: re-electing President Obama.”
The job listing caught the attention of Alex Lundry, a Republican data-mining expert at TargetPoint Consulting. He tweeted a link to the ad, commenting, “The Obama campaign is taking #bigdata seriously; what about the GOP candidates?”
