Obama Fires Top General Without Even a Phone Call Daniel Halper January 25, 2013 10:26 AM
President Barack Obama fired General James Mattis, the head of Central Command, without even calling the general to let him know he was being replaced.
"I am told that General Mattis was travelling and in a meeting when an aide passed him a note telling him that the Pentagon had announced his replacement as head of Central Command. It was news to him -- he hadn't received a phone call or a heads-up from anyone at the Pentagon or the White House," Thomas E. Ricks reports.
In another post, Ricks says Mattis was fired because:
Pentagon insiders say that he rubbed civilian officials the wrong way -- not because he went all "mad dog," which is his public image, and the view at the White House, but rather because he pushed the civilians so hard on considering the second- and third-order consequences of military action against Iran. Some of those questions apparently were uncomfortable. Like, what do you do with Iran once the nuclear issue is resolved and it remains a foe? What do you do if Iran then develops conventional capabilities that could make it hazardous for U.S. Navy ships to operate in the Persian Gulf? He kept saying, "And then what?"
There is also a belief that Mattis and Obama differed on Iran. "A particular point of disagreement was what to do about mischief Iran is exporting to other countries. Mattis is indeed more hawkish on this than the White House was," writes Ricks in yet another post.
"National Security Advisor Tom Donilon in particular was irked by Mattis's insistence on being heard. I cringe when I hear about civilians shutting down strategic discussions. That is exactly what the Bush administration did in late 2002 when generals persisted in questioning whether it was wise to invade Iraq. That led to what some might call a fiasco."
I believe you have nailed it. Some time in the future the Democrats want another cult figure to run for office and what could be more cultish than an superficially black guy with a comical sidekick boob for a VP than a lesbian general with two boobs and a hispanic VP to cover her arse. The media would have the mother of all orgies over it.
I nominate this guy to run the new Confederate Army. Or maybe the Republic of Texas Army.
I am thinking the future is bright for the likes of horrible Holly Graf !
> Paving the way for soon-to-be female generals. The principal reasoning behind women in combat is so that they get a fair shake at reaching flag rank, something that would be otherwise out of reach for someone without combat exposure.
Playing Jacks is beyond the capabilities of the administration.
Working in my underground bunker lab, using lab animals from Kenya, I have discovered that Dupont Teflon and Melanin are very very closely related on a biomolecular level.
The practical application has vast sociological implications. That is, it is probably always going to be impossible to fix blame upon, or even question, the responsibility, or indeed any sense of morality (including minimal patriotism) on any public figure whose skin tone, and thus Melanin Coefficient (cM), is higher than yours.
This applies to our recumbent POTUS. Not only is his cM on the high side, but he was as you may have heard, born in Hawaii, which means he really must be forgiven everything.
Probably in the same place the 30 or so 'embassy' (I know it wasn't an embassy) staff/hostages/prisoners (whichever label works best for you) were taken and 'sequestered'.

Back to the thread.
# 78 is long, but worth the read.
.
I remember her well. I also remember one of the first - if not the first - Navy fighter pilots, Kara (last name unknown), who was rushed through in order for Pat Schroeder to pimp her as her own great accomplishment, and who, sadly, never quite learned to land on a carrier.
It’s not the training or development of skills that count. It’s the showpiece. And, as you point out, the genders are equal in one regard: The capacity for cruelty and corruption.
Bump for later read ....................................................... FRegards

My daughter was in Iraq as a USAR captain concurrent with General Mattis. She said she thought the world of him.
One might take him for Patton.

General Officers tend to have weak spines. Those who went along with LBJ on Vietnam, for instance.
Beyond pathetic; that Obama's respect for our Military is no more that the weakest of 'lip service'. And; true to form; even that civility; Obama cannot muster on our Military's behalf.
Ya caught me intentionally understating. ;-)
Now there’s a man after me own heart! Prince Harry has the same guts and common sense, and he is being excoriated for it!
