I remember her well. I also remember one of the first - if not the first - Navy fighter pilots, Kara (last name unknown), who was rushed through in order for Pat Schroeder to pimp her as her own great accomplishment, and who, sadly, never quite learned to land on a carrier.
It’s not the training or development of skills that count. It’s the showpiece. And, as you point out, the genders are equal in one regard: The capacity for cruelty and corruption.
