RALEIGH, N.C. At least two people were injured Saturday afternoon in an apparent accidental shooting at the gun show being held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.
Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 1 p.m., and two people were loaded into ambulances.
A witness told WRAL that a gun went off after being checked by an official at a safety check-in location, hitting a man in the hand and a woman in the side.
The Raleigh Fire Department confirmed that the Dixie Gun and Knife Show would be closed for the remainder of the day Saturday. There was no word on whether the show, which is held inside the Jim Graham Building, would continue Sunday.

Some stupid cop puts his booger hook on the bang switch when he's unloading a pistol. Yes, it was a cop; I have a source who was 50 ft away when it happened. WHY would somebody bring a loaded pistol into a gun show anyway? Why not unload in your car, or at least before getting in line? Why hand a LOADED pistol to a COP, who are well known for not following the 4 rules?
This is a very bad time for something like this to happen. They are gonna use this to clamp down on everything, you watch.
Bad timing.
Remember, only cops need guns.
All thumbs nature of the cop aside, who in the frigging hell brings a damned gun to a gun show, to get checked even, with the damned bullets still in the gun? Unbelievably stupid. Some people are just too damned stupid IMO.....
Bad timing, my a**. This was sabotage, not an accident.
Yep. Enemedia will pounce as directed.
Since it was a cop, the mainstream national media won’t even pick it up.
I know this puts me in tinfoil hat territory, but I just can’t put it past the gun-grabbers to try to engineer some kind of mishap on Gun Appreciation Day.
Well, seeing as how the alignment of the stars, planets and unbelievably stupid participants on both sides all coincided at once. It is very hard to disbelieve your assertion.
Coincidence?
Consider the possibility that it was not an accident at all, but rather an orchestrated attempt of anti gun zealots in law enforcement, the Feds and the media to promote gun show, and Second Amendment restrictions.
Any gun show I’ve been to, the officials doing the check-in are LEOs.
Too many coincidences lately.
Plant. You know liberal limp wrists don’t know how to fire a gun. First thing is to make the gun is not pointed in the direction of anyone. Anyone that’s ever taken firearms training knows that.
People thing just because they are LE, they know about guns. A few years ago the ATF accused a fellow of having an “illegal machine gun” and were preparing to prosecute him. The guy FINALLY got a real expert to allow him to inspect the firearm. Five minutes into the inspection he found a broken and jammed firing pin.
It would take two, ya’ know. I cannot conceive of taking a loaded gun to a gun show. Everyone knows the rules. Plus, whoever is handling the gun, was absolutely incompetent. It was either sabotage or two of the stupidest people to meet at the same place at the same time.
Just now saw the part where it was a cop. I’d say suspension with no pay until he completes another firearms training course. Might want to Jake sure he didn’t visit with Obama shortly b4 the incident tho...lol

Someone once told me “There are no coincidences.”
I didn’t believe them at the time.

Or they might say, “look here, this guy’s a cop WITH firearms training. If he can do it ANYONE can” then try to shut down gun shows.
