Swissvale police are increasing patrols near a school bus stop where two major brawls happened the past few days.
Cell phone videos captured by students show a crowd of as many as 60 students and parents fighting in the streets of Swissvale, on both Monday and Tuesday.
They were riots, says Swissvale Police Chief Greg Geppert. Even worse, the fights were made up of both kids, and adults.
Police say they have already arrested five adults and minors, and are looking for close to a dozen more. The students, and parents were reportedly from the Woodland Hills School district.
It was appalling. Ive been very disappointed, says Woodland Hills School Superintendent Alan Johnson. The superintendent says any students involved with the brawls will be suspended and expelled from school if possible.
Meantime, those who witnessed the fights in the neighborhood along south Braddock Avenue in Swissvale say they are afraid to walk to the store.
Im afraid for my life. I wont go for a walk anymore, says a woman who didnt want to be identified.
Four different local police departments are working to find all of the students and adults fighting on the video.
WHAT THE HELL were they fighting about???? HELLO, REPORTERS....could you AXE that question???
If one feels the need to use a euphamism, i prefer ‘Holder’s People’.
When the city of Pittsburgh sucked up all the surrounding suburbs, boroughs, and small towns to expand its dead tax base, the small towns were utterly destroyed. Likewise Allegheny County.

Thanks for the reply. I can almost understand why yanking a post with Obama in witch doctor garb gets yanked because true Conservatives don't stoop to that sort of childish behavior. Likewise, I can thin we can all agree with the pulling of the thread back in summer 2009 when Obama's kids, while in France, were being ridiculed -- although it was obvious that source of the pictures being posted were from leftists seeking to harm the good reputation of Free Republic.
That said, and perhaps the Admin Moderator(s) can explain why, the term black can't be used when it accurately describes the people engaging in such acts as riots and other crimes. Even the highly-PC media here in Dallas will use the term "black", "white" or "Hispanic" when issuing an Amber Alert or a "be on the lookout" statement for a criminal. As Faber College might phrase it, "truth is good". :-)
Actually, depending on context, it sometimes means peaceful, friendly Islamics.
But in general I agree. There is a part of modern black culture in the U.S. that needs to be discussed and addressed in a stand up manner, but very few are willing to do this for fear of being labeled a RACIST!
A casual examination of crime stats would show any thinking person that there is a serious problem here.
If only we had tougher gun laws!!!!
Those Swiss folk, eh? You know, everyone thinks of them as such a peace-loving people, but I'm not so sure.
I very much appreciate your response. Since we both have firsthand knowledge of Pennsylvania (though I been gone for many decades now), generally speaking the Amish are decent, law-abiding people. When in and around places like Ephrata, sure it's a tad annoying to get behind one of their buggies on the road but they tend to be kind and respectful of others.
Affirmative action rules tell us that we must take race into account when filling a position. Well, then, let's also take race into account when it comes to these acts of wanton violence. In that respect, the quota is far, far exceeded.
Nice rant. Except it's wrong. The Amish are a religious community, almost all white but of varied races including black. The Muslims are also a religious community with various races, many Arab, but also includes plenty of whites (and blacks). The Amish community doesn't go around blowing up stuff.
You can fill in the rest.
I’d rather use the word “black.” My Grandparents owned a small farm during the Great Depression, surrounded by an Amish community in Southern Michigan. Those wonderful people pulled my Mom’s rather large family through the toughest parts of the the depression, and the family is eternally grateful to them. My family was never Amish, but they were never treated as “outsiders.”
Black uneducated trash. Just like whites, browns, asians....they all have them. It’s not being racist.
Very well said and that squares with what my relatives in central Pennsylvania told me. By and large, the Amish are an honest people and straightforward in dealing with others. They're also good workers and were reliable in helping on construction jobs around the farm my relatives owned. Look, I get the well-entrenched tongue in cheek use of "Amish" as a code word here on Free Republic. It probably works, to some extent, because the Amish are so far removed from the type of behavior that so many (not all, but many) blacks engage in.
For me though, doing the wink and nod routine is a tad tiresome. I'll say what I mean with candor and if my short tenure here at FR comes to end, so be it.
Of course we all know the location is unimportant to these people.
They conduct themselves the same wherever they go.
Who would have thought that Negroes would be violent?
Obamas’s kids.
Obamas’s kids.
I agree. The Amish ‘joke’ was mildly funny the first
387 times I saw it. I propose this is the day, this is the
thread that we officially retire the ‘joke’.
Who’s with me???
You know what WAS actually funny? watching that video...
