I'm interested in a 9mm or slightly smaller quality handgun that has a stock laser pointer. Comfortable carry and the laser are equally important.
And lastly, I've put Hogue rubber grips on it, replacing the side panels. A perfect feeling pistol for people with small hands.
I like the looks and the positive reviews I’ve seen for the Beretta Nano and the S&W Shield.
How does the Airweight compare to the S&W “Ladysmith”?
I got a Ladysmith cause it was small and I knew someday I’d live where CCW’s were easier to get.
An airweight Smith is your best bet by far. Zero Maintenance, magazine fed semi’s are cute but the springs are an issue. You can sit load a revolver today, pick it up in 2015, pull the trigger and it will work.
What more can you ask?

For the LC9, buy the lazerlyte. $90 at Optics Planet and free shipping. Easy as pie to put on and works great.
how many clips do you want it to take?
Three very good CC options are: Ruger LCP DAO 380, Kel-Tec PF9 9mm DAO and Ruger LCR if you like a revolver, (it fires 38 special and 38 +p). All are very light small and easy to conceal. They also perform very well and are consistent and reliable. I have personally used all of these and would depend on them in as a quick response close encounter weapon.
A bit of advice here, if I may:
Your choice of weapons is like your nose, having someone else pick it for you is just WRONG!
Try the Bersa compact. Add an after market laser. The 9 has a built in rail for that. I got one about 5 months ago, and I find it very accurate, although I’m a better shot with iron sights than with the laser.
Now with my CZ52 I know that I can not only stop the bad guy at a distance but the two or three bad guys lined up behind him, LOL!

I have the same gun and love it. I carry EVERYWHERE, the clip makes it so concealable. Totally concealable is really important. The perp has to think you are not a threat.
9mm is not a lot of stopping power. I conceal carry hollow point and a hot load to help a little. If you get into a real firefight with a pistol you brought the wrong weapon, you need a long gun.
My Keltec only gives me 8 rounds. I practice every 2 weeks so I will hit my target and I will hurt it. I will hopefully have the advantage of surprise over my target. I think most assailants don't want a fight, they want to hold you up and get out. They likely don't practice every two weeks and are already nervous and shaking when they start.
I hope I never have to kill somebody but if I shoot that is likely what I will be doing, two in the center of mass and one in the head. Its the way I practice and you do what you practice. Hollow points are very painful, if I get my shots off first the fight will likely be over. The perps buddies will have left him when they heard the first shot, for all they know its a cop.
A laser sight is fun, but mostly useless and it will give you away before you pull the trigger. Some perp might load up his drawers if he sees the laser on him but I wouldn't count on it.
Whatever gun you get it is useless if you don't carry all the time. Most people who get larger guns do not carry all the time because it is a hassle. Carrying a smaller gun is practically unnoticeable to you. Because if there is no pain in carrying you will then carry. Even a 22 is better than a 45 if the 45 is at home and your not.
There may be better quality guns than the PF9 but after a couple thousand rounds through it it still shoots well. It is hard to find a smaller 9mm than the Keltec, all in all I'd say its a good gun to own.
My wife's Ruger LCR 38 is not bad either, I would certainly not like to get hit with it. She is a dead eye so her five rounds are ok for her, I rather like having my 8.

My XDM .40 fits nicely in my purse! Sometimes being a girl is an advantage.
I highly reccomend the BG380. I have had no FTF nor FTE. It’s quite accurate. I carry in condition 1. And no, it will not fire if dropped. Some do not like a laser, but I love it. I love shooting at night time. It’s like most activities, practice, practice, practice. Good luck.
My brother bought a S&W .380 bodyguard with the laser sight on it for his wife. He brought it by my house, I have a range out back since I live in the boonies and we shot it. At one point I asked him about why he paid extra for the laser when Ruger, Keltec and Taurus had similar models? Because of the laser sight built in.
I said I see, but I have a question: if you or her were carrying and suddenly attacked would you have time to actually turn on the laser sight? His response, probably not. Then I suggest you train shooting it without the laser.
I told him that if he knew the attack was coming then the activation and use of the laser sight might be useful, otherwise train with the old fashioned sights.
Personally I carry the Keltec PF9 and the only modification I would make would be night sights which I would think would be more valuable.
I recently bought a Kahr CW40 and unfortunately I’m not happy with it. Lots of feeding problems. I think the design is just too compact to handle the 40 cal cartridge. Thinking about trading it in for a 9mm, but after looking at the Ruger LC9 I’m wondering if I might like it better.
