“All focus is on the mother while the father lives in CT, also. Why wouldnt the father have joint custody?”
The father remarried and I seriously doubt that Adam would have been comfortable or manageable with his (the father’s) new wife. It would have most likely been a very difficult situation.
Seriously? Demonstrably? Well then. That’s settled. lol
Mother is drunkard who caresses guns and is stupidly preparing for a possible financial meltdown.
Father is ... ? what? Don’t know. Media won’t ask or tell.
where did you hear about this kind of wackiness?
stunning if true. makes ya wonder if this ain’t an entire clowder of cuckoos.
“I believe it was an uncle who said he was on Fanapt, which from what I can determine is prescribed for schitzophrenia.”
“Fanapt (iloperidone) tablets are indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults.”
“Fanapt is not approved for the treatment of people with dementia-related psychosis”

“Fanapt may impair your thinking or reactions.”

I haven’t any knowledge of psychiatry or medicine, but I sense that Adam Lanza — already diagnosed as having Asperger’s Syndrome — may have begun to experience bouts of something more serious. One of the articles on Drudge’s site mentioned that his mother had just told someone only days ago that she was afraid she was “losing him”.
It wasn’t the Asperger’s that pushed him over the edge. Maybe emerging schizophrenia, something that his mother may or may not have recognized or understood as she struggled to keep him “as he was”. He probably didn’t have much understanding of this descent, himself.
Perhaps the mother simply refused to face the reality of her and his situation. If she had, perhaps she would have had the foresight to secure the weapons in the house, probably by getting them OUT of the house altogether.
But she didn’t, and it looks like the entire country will bear the weight of her mistake....
Oh come on. The news coverage of the tragedy — not the tragedy itself — is being discussed here. Shoot yeah there’s “narratives” involved in that part. What got written in the news is itself a whole nother story.
if 3 is an obsession I’d hate to see what they call some of us.
heck My grandfather left me more than 3 firearms. I have added to the collection since then.
According to another report he was taking schizophrenia meds.
Could easily have been both.
“Why are American families dying? Because fathers are abandoning them.”
Because mothers put fathers out on the street; that is why there are no guys lining up to get married anymore. Fingers can be pointed both ways, but the reality is that many women can’t get married because men have figured out the cost:benefit ration.
“I want to know why the media is obsessively focusing on one parent (the female) as the one who failed her son and community.”
Probably because she trained a lunatic son how to shoot and left the guns accessible to him. Just thinking out loud here...
That explains why they are asking questions about her. But it doesn’t explain why they aren’t asking any questions about the fathers relationship with his son.
I didn't watch the Pretender King either, this situation is hard enough to think about as it is. I kept thinking last night that I hoped that none of the families of the murdered children and adults were having to sit through the Little Dictator's campaign speech two days after their child was brutally murdered.
I keep telling people to look at Stalin’s treatment of the Kulaks. It seems a likely model.
“But it doesnt explain why they arent asking any questions about the fathers relationship with his son.”
Probably because the last time a TV show or commercial showed a white father with his son was back in the early 1990s. Actually, I would guess it was because he didn’t live with him.
