We don't know that. One of the Brit papers I believe was reporting that the wife initiated the divorce, and the husband was upset about it.

My mom was schizophrenic, it was the reason for our family’s breakup..and she went undiagnosed for years, then went through bad treatments to marginally better and finally to Zyprexa, which for her..was a very very good drug. But to give that to a 13 year old or teenager..I shudder.

With fathers (men), when a son’s behavior gets bad enough, it develops into a physical confrontation.
Years ago, most fathers administered spankings early on in the son’s life and established in the son’s mind that the father could not be pushed around. I only needed about two spankings before they were obsolete; the mere raising of the voice got my attention in a big way. Not all fathers worked things this way, but it was common in society.
Today, a simple spanking can bring the police to the house and cause the father to be taken away in handcuffs, or possibly have to leave the house if the mother does not side with the father.
I know this from personal experience.
Fathers can’t talk nice nice to sons who need to get strong correction that most mothers simply can not give, whether because of physical or emotionally-induced limitations.
Our laws leave fathers no choice but to leave if husband and wife do not stick together on parental rights 100% and have a good lawyer if necessary.
Of course I have no idea of this particular situation, so I can’t hazard a guess as to why the parents divorced. It is significant, IMHO, that the father was extremely good about child support, to the point of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars. Also, I read an article where a friend of the mother was interviewed and she said the divorce was extremely amicable. I can completely understand both amicable and non-amicable divorce, having been through both.

You can say mother or you can say father, but the one who was to blame was the son. There is so much that is not known, not said and some I’m sure will be hidden that there is no way to accurately accuse others as accomplices.
