Supporters and opponents alike of gun control will point to this fact in the coming days: Connecticut already has some of the toughest restrictions on gun laws in the United States.
For gun control supporters, the shooting at a Newtown elementary school will be one more piece of evidence that even stronger laws are needed, including at the national level.
We have some of the strongest gun laws in the United States, but if you dont have strong federal gun laws, that makes it that much more difficult, said Ron Pinciaro, executive director of Connecticut Against Gun Violence.
But advocates for gun owners and sportsmen say that shows that the law can only do so much.

Sounds like it's time to load up on magazines. and semi-autos.
The more they restrict the Bible, God, prayer and concealed carry in schools, the more evil takes it’s place.
With all due respect, Israeli firearms laws are quite restrictive, actually more restrictive than they are here in the Czech Republic where I currently reside.

Sitting duck land.
The Pinkos will blame red states that are more 2nd Ammendment friendly and use that as a pretext to have Federal laws like Commiefornia and other 5th column states.

The school was a “gun-free zone” - it took the police 10 MINUTES to get there after the 911 was called in.
So for 10 MINUTES the only firearm in that whole school was possessed by a crazed gunman.
Madness.

Since (similar in some respects to Switzerland) virtually everybody who moves to Israel or is born there is a reservist, it isn’t as onerous as one might think. The place bristles with weapons in more-or-less honest hands. My own father, when he visited Israel, said he had never seen such a safe place — nobody would dare rampage with a gun.
In the US, military participation today is quite voluntary. The US Constitutional authors had a good answer for this, which was to deem all able bodied males the militia, which must not be deprived of their weapons. (In principle. The practice has deviated grievously.)
Nearly everyone at my church is a gun owner and that includes the preacher. And most of us bring our weapons to worship. Woe unto the thug trying to make off with the collection plate, a hail of hot lead in the head will expeditiously dispatch such a goon to his eternal damnation. Personally, I've always found a strong correlation between gun ownership and a sincere commitment to Christianity and Conservative values. And here in Texas, criminals are an endangered species because of the high rate of gun ownership by truly good people coupled with a no-nonsense approach to the death penalty.
A. Call 911
B. Run and hide
C. Shoot the perpetrator
You have less than 1 second to decide.
Repeat and shout all you want. It's not going to do much good this time around I'm afraid. You see, laws aren't about saving lives. Laws are about making people feel good. Arming teachers won't make people feel good. Banning assault rifles, high-cap magazines and closing gun shows will.
And when I say "people" I'm not talking about you or I posting here on Free Republic. I'm talking about all those other folks who actually won the election. The NRA went all out against Obama and lost. Nobody is afraid of the "Angry White Male" anymore. As last November clearly demonstrated, they can win without us. I smell a fight brewing and I am no longer confident it is one we can win. Gun control is coming. You can count on it. Better buy 'em now.
