In the wake of the deadly Connecticut school shooting, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy said she has warned the White House “the gloves are off” if President Obama fails to act on the issue.
McCarthy (D-N.Y.), the foremost gun control advocate in Congress, said she spoke with White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew before Election Day and told him she will exert pressure on the White House to push for gun control legislation.
“I said, ‘Jack, I know the president is going through an election and I’m telling you after the election I’m coming out full force,’” McCarthy told POLITICO Friday. “I was just giving the White House a heads up that the gloves are off on my side and I was going to do everything I possibly could. … If that meant embarrassing everybody, that’s what I would do.”

How about telling kids hard work, get up instead of a band aid all the time and ice, how about not going out to eat all the time and teaching kids how to cook and clean up after.
HOw about telling and teaching kids resepect for life and it;s not all about them.

What I see here is the failure of the school and the teachers to protect the children when the responsibility of protecting them was assumed by the State with the laws preventing the teachers and administration from defending them. It is the fault of the school and laws of Connecticut from not having adequate police protection or safeguards to protect the children. Laws don’t protect the children, individuals do. The police only serve to investigate the scene after the crime has been committed.
Just a day or two before this event, a very similar one happened in China. No gun involved, similar number dead.
The only way to get lunatics and violent criminals to quit shooting people is to take guns away from law-abiding citizens!
Clearly the solution is home schooling.
we don;t need more gun control we need parents to do their job and raise decent kids and tell them to fit in and not tell them it;s alright to be different at school and then never never be there to raise them because the said parents can;t be bothered.
PS: Any Republican Congressmen and Senator's that are thinking of jumping on the "gun control" bandwagon, you WILL be primaried in 2014 (only the conservative NRA types vote in the off year Republican primaries). So decide if it's worth your career...

I agree with you, but when it comes to the Left, common sense is very uncommon.
But you can bet that her security detail is heavily armed.
That isn’t going to happen, manc.
This society is descending into absolute madness.
We need strong defenses against cowardly criminals.
We need to make all soft targets into hard targets.
Rep McCarthy seems still not to understand that had there been one armed passenger on that LIRR train when her husband was killed and her son maimed, they might not have suffered that fate.
The states are headed in the opposite direction anyway.

For many (especially in the high-cost northeast) that was financially difficult; however, nowadays an increasing number of families have a parent out of work. Maybe that will drive some to try it (though I doubt it).
