Within eight hours of the initial attack on the United States' diplomatic facility in Benghazi, Libya, the CIA decided to scrub and abandon rather than protect its annex, a military intelligence source told Fox News.
“The defensive posture was no longer sustainable," the source told Fox News, revealing for the first time how quickly the CIA chose to secure classified material and close down the facility after it took indirect fire from two mortars at about 5:15 a.m. local time Sept. 12.
The adjoining U.S. consulate, by contrast, has never been secured, even three months after the attack.
The process to sanitize the CIA site began on Sept. 11 after the consulate was attacked around 9:35 p.m. local time. The initial stages of the agency’s proscribed evacuation plan kicked in as a precautionary step.

That does not matter... no one did anything for weeks... all the government did was to lie lie lie lie lie and they are still lying. There is no excuse for anything connected with Benghazi.

The adjoining building 1800 feet from the annex that was attacked was an unflagged rented private villa or residence. It is not a consulate and the media needs to stop calling it that.
“Two mortars”? Not two mortar rounds? Things just get curiouser and curiouser.
The only things we can be fairly certain about with Stevens is:
1. He said goodby to some guy from Turkey about 8:30pm local time at Building 1.
2. There are photos of Stevens being dragged/carried by some young men. Hard to tell from the photos if he was alive or dead.
Everything else is what we have been told by people who have been lying to us.
Why did they wait eight hours to begin destroying classified material? You destroy classified material when you can no longer guarantee security. So, for eight hours, they didn’t think that they needed to destroy classified material. They felt things were secure. But after eight hours, they thought they couldn’t guarantee the security of the classified material. Interesting. What changed?
What are they hiding?

What am I supposed to believe from this report? Did they start to sanitize it at 9:35 PM Sept. 11th or 8 hours later at 5:15 AM Sept. 12th?
Waco...they began to bulldoze the site of the murder of 27 children (burned alive) and about as many adults....the dozers moved in 2 days later. Same M.O. Cleanup or contaminate the site of the crime.
"Proscribed" in the article should be "prescribed", with just the opposite meaning.
“What are they hiding?”
Gun running to terrorists and Libya’s WMDS that fell into the wrong hands. Doesn’t anyone else find it strange that just a few weeks after the attack on Benghazi, Panetta came out saying that they had lost track of Syria’s WMDS? The story got little attention at the time. Now suddenly, they know that Syria has loaded sarin gas to use ‘against their own people’??
Could the zero administration be setting this whole thing up to cover the fact that they let these weapons get into the wrong hands? Could they be setting up the Assad regime to take the fall for any WMDS being set off by islamic terrorists in the middle east (or elsewhere) in the very near future?

The classified material was in the annex. No one expected Chris Stevens to be keeping a personal diary, however, I suspect that he did so because he knew he might need to protect himself at some point.
He knew he was on a hit list and he had begged for more security but none was forthcoming. THAT much was apparent from the cables he sent to the state department. When he was turned down, I believe he was truly in fear for his life and kept a record of his movements and meetings in case anything should happen to him.
I also suspect he knew the state department had abandoned him but did not know why.
It is also possible that he had learned that many of the weapons being run through Turkey to Syria were being diverted to the hamas in Gaza and had protested this and that is what the meeting with the Turkish minister was about.
Benghazi: The CIA “Annex” and the Main Compound
One of the most important corrections that needs to be made in this account is that ex-Seal Glen Doherty arrived from Tripoli on a chartered plane with 7 others (IIRC) at Benghazi airport at about 1am (Benghazi time). They were detained at the airport for over 3 hours---apparently, best reports say, because they required Libyan escort.
Reports say that, at some point in time, this group of men intended to go to the Benghazi Hospital to recover Stevens body. That proved impossible because Al Qaeda surrounded the hospital. Instead, they headed to the Annex, where Doherty and Tyrone Woods (the ex-Seal at the Annex who defied the stand-down orders when the mission/consulate had come under fire) lost their lives shortly after.
There are good references on these facts (which I don't have at the moment but can be googled). This part of the story is rarely mentioned. Why I think these facts, if true, are critical is because they establish the time when Washington DC knew of Steven's death. Reports from the doctor who worked on Stevens is that he was brought to the hospital about 1am (Benghazi time). A team tried to resuscitate him for 45 minutes, and then he was pronounced dead.
If the Tripoli team was going to pick up his body, Washington DC knew Stevens was dead at least by 10pm Wash, DC time.
Obama, Hillary and everyone else monitoring events knew Stevens was dead by 10 pm. I have no way to prove this, but I suspect Obama also knew that even Doherty and Woods were dead before he went to bed to rest for his trip to Las Vegas the next day.
The administration had all night to work a story to sell to the public.
