When the CIA’s acting director, Michael Morell, testifies Thursday before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, he is expected to say that the agency never requested Europe-based special operations teams, specialized Marine platoons, or armed drones on the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi, Libya, according to a senior U.S. intelligence official.
The disclosure may put an end to one line of inquiry into the Benghazi affair about why reinforcements from the region were not sent on the night of the attack. “Assistance from the U.S. military was critical, and we got what we requested,” the senior U.S. intelligence official said.
According to a Pentagon timeline made public last week, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta prepared multiple military responses from the region at around midnight Benghazi time, more than two hours after the initial assault began. Those orders included mobilizing two special Marine platoons known as Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST) from Rota, Spain, to deploy to Tripoli and Benghazi. Panetta also ordered a special operations force, training in central Europe, to deploy at the Signonella Airbase in Italy. Another special operations team based in the United States also prepared to deploy to Libya.
The CIA, however, requested none of that assistance. Neither did the State Department. None of those teams ever arrived in Benghazi.
This is directly contradictory to Jennifer Griffin’s reporting at Fox News. Griffin has multiple sources who were on the ground in Benghazi feeding her the claim that the team at the CIA annex asked repeatedly for backup.

Their request was up their chain of command. Either their CIA boss or the State Department boss chose not to respond or their second level boss chose not to command.
Based on the Congressional hearings, the woman kicked it up and the request was denied at State.
The CIA did not make the request to DOD.
So it is up to the Americans under attack to request the appropriate protection? Send the FAST team! Any nobody there said the magic words. Are they really to have us believe that?
Are we to believe that the mission/consulate guy on the radio with DC died without conveying the gravity of the situation. That the drones taking pictures of the whole thing did not convey the gravity of the situation. That the former SEALS, who lost their lives, did not convey the gravity of the situation.

This was Panetta’s story, that He and General Ham (according to Panetta) thought, because of the uncertainty, that the mission was too risky. I think Panetta implicated another General in that decision also.
But, being the Sec Def - the Generals take orders in that situation, not give them. So Panetta is either implicating himself, or he was operating under the president’s direction.
Secondly, on the point of the lives of Americans, Peter King confirmed that the topic was discussed and that he could not comment at this time.

Peter King (committee chair) would not comment on the aspect of who called for back-up and who denied cross-border support for the 41 Americans in Benghazi.
It seems to me that if Petraeus exonerated Obama, that King would come forward with that story, or the dems in the room would.
Now, if Petraeus said Obama left those Americans to die at the hands of terrorists, then that information would be handled in a very special way. It would not be leaked by the Dems, and the republicans would have to have several meetings on what to do with it.

Never asked?....Well then why did Panetta say he and the Joint Chief decided they would not send assistance because there was not enough time to deploy. Why would he say that if those being assaulted never requested assistance. One comment makes the other unnecessary....but only if you think Panetta is clairvoiant. How could he have known how long the battle would rage? 7 hours....7 days....How could he have know antecedent to its final moment?
I find it difficult to believe the former Seal would have given up his position by painting a target with his laser, if he did not believe assets were not only on the way, but on the scene.
The POTUS and the Sec. Def. were watching it in the WH sit-room. Why would anyone need to make a request for help?
Fact One:
1) Only the POTUS can authorize a CBA (cross border authority) command for a rescue mission in a foreign nation.
Plus Fact Two:
2) No rescue mission was attempted.
Equals Fact Three:
3) 0bama turned his back on 41 State Dept. and CIA employees refusing to issue a CBA command and went to bed so he could go to Las Vegas the next day.
Oh, for crying out loud. The Obama administration is telling the Republicans a story and saying it’s about national security. Who the heck do they think got us into this mess in Benghazi? It was the same Obama administration that’s telling them now that they can fix it if it’s just kept quiet. I’d be hard pressed to think of anything more dangerous to our country than this inept group of liars and grifters and socialist hacks known as The Obama Administration.

The point is that the CIA acting director was likely correct when he said CIA did not request help from DOD. That was the discussion. He made a point that is probably both correct and CYA

No cross border authorization. Thats why no request.
They knew that this needed to be granted to allow that type of movement/aid

Ahhhhhhh.....legalese........OK......if we’re going to play word games......let’s hold the hearings in Benghazi. No troops, just the actors involved in this comedy of errors. We’ll set up some cameras and microphones and speakers and we’ll have the Senators and Representatives partipate via satellite from Washington, D.C. No bodyguards and we announce to the local populace who’s going to be at the facilities in Benghazi and when. I think Hillary and Panetta and Dempsey and Petraeus and Clapper and Rice and several more should testify from the scene of the action. They might get attacked? Not to worry. We’ll provide the same level of support provided to those people killed in Benghazi. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander and these pompous idiots.
Pay close attention to the words, because this is Clintonesque. The agency didn’t request military help. Not State. Not individuals. Not the Ambassador. Not the SEALs. There is a lot here that is not being disclosed.

If it’s true then it’s not really a CYA for Petraeus and the CIA it’s just the truth. But the point of anyone making that fact some kind of relevant point is just an attempted CYA for 0coward.
