Louisiana citizens petition White House to 'peacefully' withdraw from US. (from Drudge)

Full title of petition: "Peacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government." Posted on Drudge.

As the founding fathers of the United States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776:

"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

"...Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government..."

Silly and amusing.

Louisiana is a ‘take state’ - billions poured in post Katrina and a huge Democrat population sucking up fed money as well.

It seems that they should petition congress, but I guess they feel they need the dictator's approval.

I don’t want to leave the United states, I want California, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, New York, DC, and a bunch of other Obama kissing country destroying moocher states to leave the United States.

If it weren’t for the mouth of the Mississippi, Obama might be willing to sell Louisiana to the Chinese. One thing is for certain - the US will never just let a state secede when it can be sold to another country.

Forget secession. That matter has been settled.

After hurricane Katrina Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) asked Congress for 250 BILLION DOLLARS to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number, isn't it?

A. Well, if you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman and child) you each get $516,528
B. Or... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787
C. Or... if you are a family of four...your family could have gotten $2,066,012

Of course none of those scenarios played out. Instead government has managed the recovery and spent almost three times the money that was asked for. Today, seven years after Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans' homeless population is estimated at 4,900, nearly two and a half times bigger than before the levees failed. The majority of the homeless sleep in the 40,000 abandoned buildings that remain as a legacy of the storm. A quarter of the residential housing in the city remains vacant, even as much of New Orleans has enjoyed a remarkable recovery from the flooding.

So when you hear the politicians whining that they can’t cut the budget or people won’t be taken care of, think about New Orleans and ponder that as I would agree, separation from this out of control government is not such a bad idea.

I don’t believe states seceding will cure anything - almost all have cities full of the people causing the problems.
If states start dumping fed rules and stop supporting the problems (like OK is doing with their no drugs on welfare law) then the problem people will either start contributing or they will relocate to prisons or other states.
Once that happens then it may become state -v- state but I think that the welfare states will be weaker and fewer and less apt to fight other than within themselves. I also think that the welfare states will implode before real war breaks out. People in welfare states will be like 3rd world banana republics wanting what the non welfare states have and will slowly purge themselves.

Maybe the pot laws will help to relocate some? I feel we are at a tipping point. Legalize pot 100% and we’re doomed - no reason for the loonies to move, no ambition for kids to support themselves (or their inevitable offspring).
So allow the states to decriminalize pot, coke, even heroin or even meth - as long as the penalty for abuse is high; no free/government health care and or welfare if you fail a drug test in last 6 months. Also, if you commit a crime while high you automatically get a no parole sentence in a prison that consists of four walls, one door and 8 watch towers. Drop in enough food on Saturday to feed X number of prisoners for a week. That will add new meaning to “scared straight” and stop the I live better in prison BS.
Get high and kill someone or cause serious permanent injury you get death or life w/o parole.
If a clean citizen kills a doper committing a crime: Give them a new box of ammo and a Thank you note.
Bye-bye dopers, bye-bye welfare, bye-bye Cartels, bye-bye crowded ERs, hello polite, productive citizenry.

along those lines, yesterday on the radio I heard an announcer make the comment that not since ( I think he said) 1939 had CA had a legislator with a Democrat Gov, democrat state senate and democrat assembly...now they can raise all the taxes they want without interference from the republicans..I don’t know if he was happy about that, being sarcastic or what..just that is what he said..

Let’s hope the House of Reps select a new Sepaker, one with guts and spine, who doesn’t need a box of tissue at his side, and will not give 0bama a dime for his 0bamacare....but I know, that is like believing in the tooth fariy.

Every red state should follow.

We can have the capital city move annually from one state to another, no need for a big federal government seat, let them meet twice year for no more than 30 days each. Once n budget and once on other matters.

Texas, once again, has a petition going around to do the same thing,

I think all the red states should leave and start their own country. Let the left wing states "share" themselves to death.
