I think it is interesting that these were my exact thoughts. I have ended all charity for the foreseeable future. I am also not going to volunteer any goods, services or time. I am done.

Won’t work. Under Obama, there are no homeless and no poor people. Don’t you watch the news?

I agree. I will not donate anything (material goods, money) to any charity. When the calls come in I will tell them to call the Kenyan Santa Claus at the White Hut.

Nice idea. But then the lefties will say, “See? This is why we need government social services.”

I hear your frustration....but why bleed into the shark pool?

We’ve worked so hard to dispel the old stereotypes of Scrooge-like conservatives. Remember the “kinder, gentler nation”? Remember “compassionate conservativism?”

We can’t throw that away by becoming troll food.

FReeper, you would only be hurting people that need you and your help. I understand you irritation. Know that you help the nation more by demonstrating how innately good most conservatives are. Keep your faith. The evil in the world will not win forever. Our brothers and sisters will not be blind to the evil forever.

If you do this, you will have just become that which you despise.
Think carefully.

“Because iniquity abounds, the love of many will grow cold” - Matthew 24:12

Then there’s the part about being hated, and being betrayed and put to death for His Name’s sake.

You people ready?

Endure to the end. Overcome. That is the command.

I say we all just quit work. If we did, where would the government get money to operate. Where would they get the money to give goodies to the freeloading 50% who live off the government. I am old enough to just retire and have been thinking about it. One thing for damn sure is I’m getting my passport renewed, just in case. This country is in a flat spin and the rudder fell off. All 4 engines are on fire on fire, and one wing is breaking free. She’s nosing down as I strap on my parachute. Bailing out...

A suggestion ......

There are truly people in need. Pick some way to help them BUT make it local. Make it face-to-face. Don’t donate to the big operations. I read an article once that it is really “easy” to get that welfare check in the mail ... not so easy to accept a bag of groceries from a real human being who has taken their money to buy you food ... folks who get their aid face-to-face tend to get off the aid much faster.

One of my strongest and best childhood memories happened at Thanksgiving, when I was fairly small - I think my youngest brother was still a baby so I was maybe 6 or 7. Someone called the church to ask for help for an elderly couple they knew about. Since it was not a week day, no one was in the office and my dad heard the phone ring and picked it up. These old folks had no food and little heat (if any). The person calling wanted to know if anyone at the church could help. Dad said he would pass the info on. He got to thinking about it .... and after the service, we went grocery shopping, then drove to a not-so-good part of town. I still remember walking up the steps with him as he carried the two grocery bags and the look on the faces of those old people when a true gift, a miracle for them, appeared at their door.

Don’t give up - the Lefties win if you do. Pick carefully who you help (you can always donate time instead of money) and I think you will be ‘rewarded’ in many ways. Matthew 25:45 “He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

I agree with the part of not patronizing 0bama friendly businesses.

No GM, GE, Chrysler, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Comcast, UBS, and those are what I can think of right now.

I’m with you but just organized national charities. The give me class have become so accustomed to handouts that they take them for granted.

I had the very great misfortune of being at a toys for tots distribution once. It was disgusting watching those women grab and pull toys and stuff them in their cars. Can’t be bothered to actually say thank you or even acknowledge the work involved.

Same with the local soup kitchen. Used to be thank you and God bless, now it is what’s for lunch today.

I have cancelled it all today. No more United Way or Outreach. Even toys for tots is out. I’ll play secret Santa to some kid on my daughters soccer instead.

OK. Let’s look at Allen West. Last I saw, he was in trouble. Why? Democrats want affirmative action voting, don’t they? Isn’t that why Obama won? But it doesn’t work for West? We have an inconsistency here. Democrats don’t support every black, then? Well, that affirmative action voting truth isn’t a truth then. I believe I disproved the “Obama was just too good of a candidate” truth earlier. That moves two out of the way.

Donate your time and point out to the recipents of your effort: “Not that I expect to get credit for this, but I am a Conservative.” Write on your checks, “This donation was mad by a Conservative.”
