The polls are open on the east coast!!
From this morning's election day prayer thread:
"Heavenly Father may you forgive this nation and its people for the many awful sins that we have commited against you. We do not deserve the wonderful ways we have been blessed and please forgive us for our indifference, neglect and complacency towards you. May you forgive us who are members of your Church who have neglected our calling and commitment to you to be effective witnesses and stewards of the many blessings you have generously bestowed upon us. Many of us have cried out to you for the past few years as never before and we humbly beseech you to bring an overwhelming, crushing defeat on the forces of darkness in our nation. First we pray that you quicken your Church by your spirit and lead us to unity to stand against the onslaught of darkness upon us. May you smash every crooked deed as evil men and women try to hold onto power and may this be so convincing that everyone knows that your hand is in this. Then we may bring the light of your Gospel to our people who do not know you and to the nations of the world.
May you block and undo every policy and piece of legislation they have passed that is harmful to this nation. May you make every policy they make fail and may you turn the hearts of the multitudes against them. May you thwart every evil deed they try to divide this nation with. May you bring their own mischief upon them ten fold. May you punish those in our government who are lawless traitors and enemies of the Constitution by exposing them and deliver them into our hands for justice. However we also pray that through this that you open their eyes to the truth and in your mercy that you bring these people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ to serve as a witness to many. May you also use this to bring revival across our nation and a restoration of a culture that glorifies You. We also pray for those just leaders in our government who are struggling against the lawless. We pray for your protection and that you embolden them to do what is right to triumph in the election and in the arena of ideas. May you also continue to open the hearts and minds of the American people to the the truth and draw them towards yourself to be renewed in repentance and spiritual rebirth.
And this we humbly ask in Jesus name. AMEN!"
I feel the same way - it is very diheartening.
I know now the definition of demoralized. I feel it.
1. ObamaCare is here to stay.
2. Taxes in January will destroy business and personal lives.
3. High unemployment is here to stay.
4. We lose the Supreme Court to the hard left.
5. The media will continue the cover up of this President’s lies, distortions, and incompetence.
6. John Boehner will cave like a cheap suit to whatever this Administration wishes.
Finally, I fear it is the end of American exceptionalism and rugged individualism. Those ideals are what we once embodied while we still fit the framers intentions; not what this nation is becoming.
Yes, I too am very interested in what Rush has to say today.
LS, thank you so much for your valient effort with the data. Unfortunately, due to other weird turnout factors, it didn’t work out for us this time.
I am sorry, I don’t get your complete pessimism though.
As a teacher myself (though at high school), I met lots of angry teens today, though it is Texas.
However, we can win the youth vote back, and as they get older, I see them turning more R. But, we can only do so with something truly different than the stuff we have offered up to now.
They see us as the old people’s party. We must change. Exactly how, I don’t know.
And the same with females and minorities. That is what really lost this for us last night. Even a few points better there and we would have won it.
What we have done up to now has not worked. We need to figure out how to reach them with conservative ideals or it’s over for good.
But, I don’t believe that will happen. Two major parties have always adapted and changed, and we will as well to reflect the modern America.
Trying to run an election like it’s still 1960 and get old white males to vote for us is not enough anymore.
That is why Thomas Jefferson abhorred cities, a vast waste of non-self sufficient people.
Exactly!
Yeah, gotta give him a fist bump for that.
“Well ... the emotional tantrums and blame games start. Yeah - blame free republic. Thats the ticket. I dont know what your beef is with free republic but am glad to see you hit the road. We need warriors not drama queens and cry-babies.”
You obviously haven’t followed all the hard work BCSCO has done over the years here on FR. He IS a warrior, and it gets more than irritating to see Freepers more interested in Dancing with the Stars than the sovereignty of this nation.
Amen, and Amen!
“This is 1000 times worse than Carter..
In my opinion America is over with ..done ..Down the toilet”
I wasn’t referencing Carter, but Clinton. This is *exactly* how I felt in 1996, except 1996 wasn’t even close. I thought “Oh @#$%, the best we can put up is Bob Dole, who talks about himself in the third person. In 2000 we’ll be officially socialist and ready for Al Gore to make gasoline illegal.”
Don’t get me wrong. These next four years are going to suck. We’re going to be taxed, our rights will be under assault, and all sorts of hell will either erupt or fester overseas. The D.C. Pubbies are already falling over themselves to surrender. O may even get a chance to screw up the Supreme Court. And then the next Dim candidate will probably be Hillary.
But that really describes 1992-2000, too. Then we had the ATF burning people in their homes and shooting people. Since you mentioned Carter, that sucked, too; huge inflation, unemployment, odd-even gas lines, not to mention caving to the Soviets and ineffective hand-wringing before Iranian “militants.” But we got past it and by ‘90 the USSR was no more.
The really screwy thing about yesterday is that our guys just didn’t show up again. Romney got fewer votes than McLame. Who are they waiting for before they bother voting? Do we have the courage to nominate someone worth voting for? Do the state parties have the courage to lock the primaries to registered Republicans only so the Dims can’t choose our candidate for us? We’ll see.
Obama’s eyes have always looked ‘cold’ to me, and I agree about Hillary. She also moves her eyes all around when talking, never seems to look directly at people.
You too Nan!
Military Absentee Ballots Delivered One Day Late, Would Have Swung Election For Romney

Never forget that this man stood up in the Illinios state legislature and defended the practice of letting half-aborted infants expire in laundry closets; the man is reptilian in his coldness.
He radiates a hostility to humanity that would have been at home in Dachau or Bergen-Belsen. I don't know what his college GPA was, but our "community organizer" could certainly have had a fine career as the commandant of a concentration camp.
