This Is What You Should Have At Home When The Frankenstorm Hits

There's a real possibility that Hurricane Sandy, aka the "Frankenstorm", could cause serious disruption to major metropolitan areas in the North East states in the next few days.
As such, its better to be over-prepared than under-prepared. NYC.gov has some suggestions for a Emergency Supply Kit that you can keep at home:
One gallon of drinking water per person per day Non-perishable, ready-to-eat canned foods and manual can opener
First aid kit
Flashlight*
Battery-operated AM/FM radio and extra batteries (you can also buy wind-up radios that do not require batteries)
Whistle
Iodine tablets or one quart of unscented bleach (for disinfecting water ONLY if directed to do so by health officials) and eyedropper (for adding bleach to water)
Personal hygiene items: soap, feminine hygiene products, toothbrush and toothpaste, etc.
Phone that does not rely on electricity
Child care supplies or other special care items
There's also some suggestions for a "go bag" that could be taken with you in the case of an evacuation:
Copies of your important documents in a waterproof and portable container (insurance cards, photo IDs, proof of address, etc.)
Extra set of car and house keys
Credit and ATM cards and cash, especially in small denominations. We recommend you keep at least $50-$100 on hand.
Bottled water and non-perishable food such as energy or granola bars
Flashlight
Note: Traditional flashlight bulbs have limited lifespans. Light Emitting Diode (LED) flashlights, however, are more durable and last up to 10 times longer than traditional bulbs.
Battery-operated AM/FM radio and extra batteries
Keep a list of the medications each member of your household takes,

You just nailed my toy collection (:-)
I had a dream that it stalled right over Baltimore, then slowly ground a fairly straight path through Wilmington, Philedelphia, Trenton, Newark, and finally fizzled out and dropped Long Island Sound on top of Boston.
I live on the border, PA side just south of Binghamton.I guess I won’t be Fox hunting on Tuesday.
You can, but it'll look like this:
;)
Sad to think people don’t have at least two weeks of these things already in their homes. Sadder still that the government thinks it needs to tell people this.
They left off extra fish food.
These forecasts that say this is a frankestorm etc. come from a federal government agency (NOAA) that is under Obama. all these forecasts are fake hype to get Benghazi gate off of the news and the media go along with it. Sad to see the media and gov pulling the strings of all the puppets.
NOAA are the ones who get the data that say it is even 75 mph winds which make it a hurricane. funny how it is just barely over the limit to make it a hurricane huh and at the height of an election, to cover for bengazi gate, funny huh?
This is the October surprise and it’s called sandy. And all frreepers , drudge everyone falling for it.
“I wouldn’t laugh it off if I was in its path.”
I’m in its path.
I ain’t laughing.
Get yourself a rain barrel and put good use to it.
Do you know the forecasts for this “frankenstorm” ORIGINATE from a federal government agency called NOAA that is under Obama? Even the wind speed data comes from NOAA.

Sad to see the media and gov pulling the strings of all the puppets even Drudge has it as top news replacing bengazi gate as was the intent.

That’s too funny...I’m fatter that guy needs a meal.
How about all the independent non-NOAA weather services who are making similar forecasts? Are they "falling for it", too?
Sometimes, a prediliction for conspiracies clouds our judgment...
I don’t think I’m “falling for it” - I’m just taking reasonable precautions - the same ones I take every time there is a risk of losing power. I live on a farm and I’m responsible for my animals. We always have gas for the generator, non-perishable food, extra hay and grain, batteries, water, Irish Mist - because you just never know!
How did a storm, barely hurricane status, even acquire the Frankenstorm moniker?
Maybe a satellite picture of this storm, wrapped in a huge diaper, and Al Franken’s face imposed within would fit this baby storm better.
Ahhh yes, the tin can / taut string variety.
I left the chickens and goats off because to many FReepers were getting to excited, who knew there were so any FReepers of the ‘muslim’ mindset?
Growing up with hurricanes, I learned that gas stations and liquor stores need electricity to be able to sell product, so buy ahead of the storm.
“How did a storm, barely hurricane status, even acquire the Frankenstorm moniker?”
Because “Snowmageddon” was already taken.
