I always say a prayer or two when I see prayer requests on FR. I pray a lot. I believe in the power of prayer.
Well today there is a Freeper who needs our prayers in his fight against cancer.
He is 'hiramknight' here on FR and he is one of my...sorry...he is my closest friend. I have never found anyone who thinks so much like I do. I introduced him to Free Republic and he is someone I can sit with for hours while we discuss and solve all of the world's problems.
Scott is a US Navy veteran and has recently been dignosed with esophageal cancer.
He headed up a team who maintained a wing of Navy P3 Orion sub hunters and also has worked for NASA.
I am in awe of this man and his situation has really thrown me for a loop.
You can read a great deal about him on his FR Profile page.
He is one of the Good Guys and he needs the very real power of the prayers from those here on FR to get through this. Please take a moment of your busy days and ask the Lord to show Scott his power and love and help him expunge this evil from his body. His family and friends need him to come out of this alive.
Prayers away.
Prayers up! God’s love...
Praying now.
Lord, we offer up a prayer for all in the path of this approaching storm. May the impact be lessened. May you protect everyone and may there be no loss of life. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen. Amen.
Lord, one of our FRiends is in need of healing. His need is known to you Lord, and You are the Great Physician and can work wonders beyond those of mere men and women. We pray for healing Lord. We pray for Your Hand to touch this person Lord and for Your wonders to be flowing from Your Hand into this person where man or woman cannot heal. Our prayer is to You our Lord and our Savior, Jesus. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen. Amen.
My prayers are sent also. Believe me, I know that prayers help. He has mine and my wifes.
Friend, never forget that Our Almighty Gods name is still “Jehovah Rapha”. The LORD God Our Healer. Every cancer roots can dry at the command of our Great Lord. He is the same that spoke to the fig tree and it dried from its roots. Nothing is too hard for Him. He is able to make the bad cells stop spreading. His Word has power to heal, deliver and restore. I pray that your health or that of your loved one will be restored in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. Friend, His Word will restore health to you.
Jeremiah 30:17 But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds declares the LORD.
Friend, so be it, in Jesus Name. Amen.
I feel I should tell you all a little bit about Scott and impart a little story about Scott and I.
I love RV'ing. I do not call it camping because to me, camping means you haul it in on your back and haul it out the same way without leaving a trace. The lovely Mrs. BS Roberts does not do "camping". So we compromise. We have a large 35 footer on a seasonal site by a lake...somewhere (OPSEC).
Anyway...my daughter and Scott's daughter were classmates and best friends in Junior High. I had not yet met Scott but had met his wife. She is awesome.
They came and rented a weekend site where I and Mrs. BS Roberts spend our weekends. This was in around 2003.
While The "Significant Others" were engaged at my camper and all of our kids were spending time elsewhere having fun, Scott and I spent our time at his site by a campfire. It was uncomfortable for about 10 minutes as we exchanged pleasantries and discussed all that we could that was of a non-political nature...each trying to size up the other without committing. I knew a bit about him but could tell...he had the Warrior mentality. At one point, he could stand it no longer and asked, "So...who did you vote for in 2000?"
I responded, "Bush".
He said, "Ya? Good."
After that the flood gates opened and we started a discussion that went well into the night and all family members could only sit and watch (The Kids) or join in (The Wives).
A good time was had by all. Scott was hooked on the place and bought a site for the next season. He loved being "in the woods" and all that went with it. He had a 5th wheel camper and payed for a seasonal site at the same campground and could be found roasting a piglet, chicken or a beef roast over an open fire on a spit on any given weekend. That man can cook and he loves it. He had a choice site and his lighting arrangements were what I can only describe as "Night time over Tokyo" they were that spectacular. Good times.
But as John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans"... Scott's family came first. He sold the site and the camper and tended to business at home with not so much as a single gripe. He lamented to me but he definitely had other priorities so that is the way he went.
We now entertain at our respective domeciles on alternate occasions and we try to out-do one another each time. A friendly competition.
I have watched his daughters grow up and head off to college. I have seen him take in people to his home...feed them, house them as if they were family and put them on their way without so much as a single complaint. To him...this is what one does.
This may be long but I wanted to take time and testify as to what type of person my Main Man is. I strive to be half of the man he is. Seriously.
If he cannot beat this affliction, I will be seriously devastated. To my core.
Life will go on. But I want it to go on with Scott in the mix. I do not wish to contemplate life on this rock without him in the cast of characters. He has accomplished more in his short years than I could only have wished for.
Ok. I'm done. Time to go cook supper and thank you all for your prayers and reading the ramblings fo foolish old man (Hey...I ain't that old).
Thank you all.
(if he's going that far afield for treatment, has he thought about Israel?)
May our Heavenly Father bless him and his loved ones, and may He guide those who are taking care of his medical needs.
