You are all too awesome.

I feel I should tell you all a little bit about Scott and impart a little story about Scott and I.

I love RV'ing. I do not call it camping because to me, camping means you haul it in on your back and haul it out the same way without leaving a trace. The lovely Mrs. BS Roberts does not do "camping". So we compromise. We have a large 35 footer on a seasonal site by a lake...somewhere (OPSEC).

Anyway...my daughter and Scott's daughter were classmates and best friends in Junior High. I had not yet met Scott but had met his wife. She is awesome.
They came and rented a weekend site where I and Mrs. BS Roberts spend our weekends. This was in around 2003.
While The "Significant Others" were engaged at my camper and all of our kids were spending time elsewhere having fun, Scott and I spent our time at his site by a campfire. It was uncomfortable for about 10 minutes as we exchanged pleasantries and discussed all that we could that was of a non-political nature...each trying to size up the other without committing. I knew a bit about him but could tell...he had the Warrior mentality. At one point, he could stand it no longer and asked, "So...who did you vote for in 2000?"

I responded, "Bush".
He said, "Ya? Good."

After that the flood gates opened and we started a discussion that went well into the night and all family members could only sit and watch (The Kids) or join in (The Wives).

A good time was had by all. Scott was hooked on the place and bought a site for the next season. He loved being "in the woods" and all that went with it. He had a 5th wheel camper and payed for a seasonal site at the same campground and could be found roasting a piglet, chicken or a beef roast over an open fire on a spit on any given weekend. That man can cook and he loves it. He had a choice site and his lighting arrangements were what I can only describe as "Night time over Tokyo" they were that spectacular. Good times.

But as John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans"... Scott's family came first. He sold the site and the camper and tended to business at home with not so much as a single gripe. He lamented to me but he definitely had other priorities so that is the way he went.

We now entertain at our respective domeciles on alternate occasions and we try to out-do one another each time. A friendly competition.

I have watched his daughters grow up and head off to college. I have seen him take in people to his home...feed them, house them as if they were family and put them on their way without so much as a single complaint. To him...this is what one does.

This may be long but I wanted to take time and testify as to what type of person my Main Man is. I strive to be half of the man he is. Seriously.

If he cannot beat this affliction, I will be seriously devastated. To my core.

Life will go on. But I want it to go on with Scott in the mix. I do not wish to contemplate life on this rock without him in the cast of characters. He has accomplished more in his short years than I could only have wished for.

Ok. I'm done. Time to go cook supper and thank you all for your prayers and reading the ramblings fo foolish old man (Hey...I ain't that old).

Thank you all.

A wonderful testimonial of your friend.

I only realized this was an October thread. I hope as I read it, there will be a wondrous update.

He has a good friend in you!
