This thread is to consolidate all information on the Benghazi fiasco.
They are. Also, I noticed an APoD topic got in there, probably my fault. Sorry. I deleted it in the combo version. There may be more debris in the list, I wasn’t fussy.
Thanks for your efforts on this, SC. I was just about to ping AlamoGirl to the task, since she did such a bang-up job during the ‘Toon’s years, and other times.
I added the keyword ambassadorStephens. I have been using Benghazigate, but I appreciate the views of some folks that we ought to simply call it “Benghazi” ... and allow “-ghazi” to be used as suffix for the Bamster’s scandals...
btt
I just realized, after reading some more articles, and reading thoughts that the cover-up is likely intimately connected with weaponry that Zero and administration gave terrorists who were part of the “arab spring” foolishness.
>>> This is the MOTHER Of ALL “Gun-Walking”
assuming that is the true situation.
VERY good point!
I added the “impeachnow” keyword, but also “libya” and “benghazi”. A number of the topics had one or both of two and three. Automatic keyword fishing would be nice around here. :’)
Obama on Benghazi: Believe Me or Your Lying Eyes (or at Least Wait Until After the Election)
“Since September 12, the Obama administration has been asking us to believe him, his press secretary, and his proxies that our Libyan ambassador and three other consulate officials were killed by a spontaneous mob driven into frenzy by an anti-Muslim film produced by an unknown Christian film maker. He asks that we not believe his state department or top intelligence officials who testify that this narrative is false. Nor should we notice the coincidence of the attack taking place on 9/11 or that this was revenge for the fifteen top al Qaeda leaders killed by drones under Obama. Of course, Obama spiking the I-killed-Osama football at the Democrat convention had nothing to do with this either. Nor did the Libyan President warn of impending violence three days earlier.”

Issa: State Dept. Sitting on $2 billion-plus for Embassy Security (Budget cut by R myth busted)
“Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) says the State Department is sitting on $2.2 billion that should be spent on upgrading security at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide, but the Obama administration will not spend the funds.
Issa made his comment during an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” to discuss the recent attack in Benghazi, Libya, that left U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead. Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, held a highly partisan hearing on the incident last week.
Issa claims the State Department will not spend the already approved funds because they didn’t want to the appearance of needing increased security.”

Clinton: “I take responsibility” for Security Ahead of Benghazi Attack
Excerpt from CNN:
“’I take responsibility’ for what happened on September 11, Clinton said in an interview with CNN’s Elise Labott soon after arriving in Lima, Peru for a visit. The interview, one of a series given to U.S. television networks Monday night, were the first she has given about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
Clinton insisted President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions, Clinton said.
‘I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha,’ she added, noting that it is close to the election.”

Sen. Graham, Ayotte and McCain Release Statement Regarding Sec. Clinton’s Statement
“We have just learned that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has claimed full responsibility for any failure to secure our people and our Consulate in Benghazi prior to the attack of September 11, 2012. This is a laudable gesture, especially when the White House is trying to avoid any responsibility whatsoever....”

Clinton on Benghazi: We All Had the Same Intel
...”CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan asked Clinton if she approved Rice’s speaking points that she delivered on the TV shows that day.
‘I think she very clearly said, :Here’s what we know now, but this is going to change,”’ Clinton said. ‘This is what we have at present but it will evolve - and the intelligence community has said the same thing.’” ...

In Public Letter, GOP Senators Won’t Let White House Off Hook for Benghazi
...
“If the President was truly not aware of this rising threat level in Benghazi, then we have lost confidence in his national security team, whose responsibility it is to keep the President informed. But if the President was aware of these earlier attacks in Benghazi prior to the events of September 11, 2012, then he bears full responsibility for any security failures that occurred. The security of Americans serving our nation everywhere in the world is ultimately the job of the Commander-in-Chief. The buck stops there.”

State Dept Suspected in April that Libyan Guards at Benghazi Consulate had Tried to Attack It
...
“State Department officials suspected that two Libyan guards hired by its own security contractor were behind an April incident in which a homemade bomb was hurled over the wall of the special mission in Benghazi, according to official emails obtained by Reuters
The April attack illustrated concerns among some U.S. officials in Libya that hiring local residents for embassy guard duties could in itself raise security issues.
The emails identified one of the suspects in that incident as a former employee of Blue Mountain Group who had been fired four days earlier for vandalism, and said the other was still working for the company. Both were unarmed guards who performed routine security tasks, such as screening visitors.”

NSC failure? Clintons failure?
“Now on the eve of the second presidential debate, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton comes forward with a rather meaningless acceptance of responsibility, telling CNN that she takes responsibility for what happened in Benghazi. Huh? She knew about the requests for more security and turned them down? She knew Libya had become a shooting gallery and kept it to herself? If she is really at fault she should first resign and then get herself to either a news conference or a congressional hearing to explain what she knew.
...
The administration, of course, should have known that the security situation was perilous months ago, when, for example, the International Red Cross pulled out. It is no mystery to European governments, to outside analysts and even to some intelligence figures (not to mention to members of Congress) that Libya has been a non-functioning state with a dire al-Qaeda problem. But only now does President Obama do something about it.”
