And so begins our annual 7th TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot.
Thank you humble gunner for the graphic.
TexasCowboy (aka COB1) was a true Texas gentleman, great friend, patriot, and a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment. It is truly an honor to continue a tradition he started many years ago, hosting shoots for FRiends around the great state of Texas.
Many FReepers are coming into town on Thursday so that they can have a tourist day on Friday. Those lucky people are going to be made (a good) miserable Thursday evening by enjoying TheMoms Kick Ass Enchiladas.
The only set tourist place is The Lady Lex.
Friday evening we will meet at Captain Bennys, 103 Fulton Beach Road Fulton, TX 78382, at 8:00 p.m., for a delicious seafood dinner. (They do not take credit cards or serve liquor ~ so remember to bring your cash & booze.)
Saturday morning we meet for breakfast at Alice Fayes, 910 North Fulton Beach Road, Fulton, TX 78358, at 8:00 a.m. The shoot is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. at, Schwenkes Gun & Pistol Range, 4407 FM 1069 Aransas Pass, TX, 78336. Mr. Schwenke has reserved the 25 yard shooting station for our group to use as home base. The only major rule at this range is do not shoot the livestock. A BBQ lunch will be served at 12:30ish.
Once the shooting is done some of us will be going to the Rockport Seafair, while others will go back to the Pelican Bay cottages for some R&R. Saturday evening will be filled with yummy junk food and margaritas!
According to the forecast, it looks as the weather will be perfect. Lows in the mid-sixtys, highs in the mid-eightys.
Nytexan and I tried to, but it was so crowded with no parking to be found and it was so hot that afternoon, we just bought groceries and returned to the cottages instead. Good decision on his part!
I can't tell for sure, but the way things taper there at the end of the Mosin-Nagant, it looks like "fixed bayonet". Excellent for marshmallows over the camp fire. LOL!
I ran into a problem with time management, so did not get to attend.
Hope the Missus is continuing her recovery! We missed you and trust that you’ll be able to make it next year...both of you! :)
LOL! You’re so funny! Cool frame from JoeProBono! I really need some “work” done! :)
We drove by there a few times and it was really crowded with not much parking. It didn’t start until 5pm Fri. and the dinner at Cpt. Benny’s was at 8 so not worth the $10 or so to get in for just a couple hours.
Do not let humblegunner hear you talk about sticking marshmallows on his Mosin after he spent a day cleaning it.
Excellent, Joe! And our gorgeous Onyx needs no “adjusting.”
LOL! You do not! You’re just the cutest little thing! And sweet as sugar, as well.
LOL.
Wonderful picture of super-shooter you, beautiful darling TOL!
My crooked smile and I can’t stand up straight! Dang scoliosis!
No, Mr. De Mille, I’ll never be ready for my close-ups! :)
Hiya JPB!!!!!!
You are truly missed, but always LOVED!
Great pics, ladies! :)
Deo, I had no idea what the heck our darling TOL was shooting, save for her Saffire, but she’s a shooting ACE!
She handled every weapon I saw, “with expertise and ease!”
Envious here? You betcha! NEXT YEAR! I’m going to try to practice...lol. Just kidding. I enjoyed watching her and the other Marksmen and women. Grateful their close friends!!!!
Grateful THEY’RE close friends!
No, she doesn’t need any adjustments. She’s perfect the way she is and so are you.
Hiya Roomie! Thank you very much, but I would be happy with a few “adjustments” (straight back) although I’m grateful and thankful that I can still walk and get around quite nicely!
I don’t think any of us need “adjustments” in that I think y’all are truly beautiful and I mean that seriously.
Gosh, I miss you all so much, I have tears in my eyes typing.
FReeper chicks are the awesomest.
You betcha. ;-)
The Henry is calibered in .45 Long Colt.
It is a really fun gun to shoot.
