Obama's Rope-a-Dope?
Original Content | 10/04/12 | Jdsteel

President Obama may not be as skilled an orator as he is thought to be by the media, but he is not as inept as he came across in the first debate. I believe he purposefully stumbled. The stammering, the lack of focus, at one point bumping the microphone were in my opinion a carefully constructed act. I believe he is trying to set the stage for a knock-out punch to his opponent in the next debate. From now until then the media will focus on Obama and his need to have a strong showing. If I am right the question is will Romney be prepared?

"Instead of “rope-a-dope”, nobama’s apparent strategy was “I’m a dope”. It worked."

I agree, 100%

I think the powers that be told him he is gone. He has outlived his usefulness. Go to Hawaii and disappear from public view...or else.

Yeah, in his $35 million dollar mansion! Nice work if you can get it.

Nah, let’s just apply Occam’s Razor here. Obama had a terrible performance because he was forced to go off-script, he didn’t have his teleprompter, and because he is arrogant enough to think he can just waltz in and win it on the force of his sterling personality. Plus, as we saw last night, Mitt Romney is no John McCain. McCain practically told people to vote for his opponent. Romney SHOWED them why they shouldn’t. I think this flustered Obama immensely.

Right, he’s planning on KOing Romney on foreign policy o.0

Yeah, right.

Obama’s problem is not his debating skills. It’s his lousy record over the last 4 years. He can’t hide that behind a curtain.

To Obama’s further disadvantage, Romney performed supurbly in the debate.

No way. He’s never in his career had to face anything like that to his face. He’s always ‘cleared the field’ in past elections. Hillary was an average to below average candidate and won most of their debates, but he had the tingle factor going early in the primaries from his speeches, and edged her out. Remember, she won most of the states down the stretch...Pennsylvania, etc. He had built up a lead. McCain was not a factor in the fall.

Now he has a record, and he’s never been forced to defend it with someone standing there to counter the BS arguments.

He’ll get better next time because they now can prepare, but that was a genuine ass beating. The myth was exposed.

I disagree with the idea that this is a "rope-a-dope" strategy and that he will deliver a knockout punch out of nowhere. Obama has demonstrated time and time again that he's just not that bright. Without a teleprompter, he is helpless.

Early voting has already started. It is too late for him to deliver a knockout punch, and even if it wasn't, a debate on foreign policy would be just about the last place he could do it. Even with a teleprompter, he cannot defend the indefensible.

However, I do agree that there is a risk, but I believe that risk is that the media will go to rabid and unethical (okay, even more rabid and unethical) lengths in the next debate to make 0 look good (or at least not like a blithering idiot).

I don’t believe that the malignant narcissist in Obama would allow him to be publicly humiliated as he was last evening in front of the entire nation, no matter what strategy he dreamed up. It’s not in his make-up to do this.

Obama was just that bad. That’s the only way to explain his performance. We shouldn’t buy into the MSM fantasy that Obama is brilliant. He is really no more intelligent than he showed us last evening, and TOTUS is actually the one with all the brains.

Obama used John Effing Kerry as his debate coach. ‘Nuff said.

You don’t do a rope-a-dope in front of an audience that size and on video that will become your legacy for years to come.

Obama doesn’t have the intellect or demeanor to debate Romney. Will he even show up for the next debates?

I really thought the Dummy in Chief would put up a better fight. All the Left Wing hacks whom ripped into him after the Debate just doesn't match their MO. I think that there could be a setup in the works for the “Comeback Kid” and a fawning Media shouting it from he Rooftops.

The problem is Bambi has to start his Comeback with a Debate on Foreign Affairs....the Middle east is burning and there are dead Americans in the street. Romney could seal the deal on the 16th, but he really needs to bone up as naturally this isn't his strongest area.

Nope...he wasn’t prepared properly and thought he could coast.....

Rope-a-dope is not in the equation.....

Your premise is based on lulling Romney into a false sense of security so he does poorly on the second debate?

The reverse: If Obama came out fighting and won, do you think that Romney wouldn’t fight harder on the next debate?

Romney will go in for the kill on the second debate regardless of Obama’s first performance.....

You don’t win the presidency by digging out of a deep hole....

Sometimes what you see is what you get......
