President Obama and Mitt Romney meet for the first of three presidential debates starting at 9pm ET from the University of Denver. The 90-minute debate will be moderated by Jim Lehrer. C-SPAN Live coverage begins at 7pm ET.
Clean-up on isle Zero.
Mitt may be a waffly mush, but he is the GOP’s waffly mush. Really they are the only major party with any sense left. Today’s Democrats are not our fathers’ Democrats.

"Jim ...you may want to move onto another topic."
These past few weeks I haven't been keeping up enough, obviously. First time I'm hearing about it. I realized they weren't your words, though. Thanks!
Please. Don't flatter yourself. I'll do what my conscience dictates, thank you very much. I've conceded as much as I'm going to on this thread, and for someone who's been as down on Romney as I have, that's a lot.
The man did well tonight. Excellent, in fact. Many are saying that it was the most impressive presidential debate performance they've ever witnessed. I'm not arguing with them. Romney kicked Obama's butt like the worthless punk he is, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Mitt won the election tonight, in my opinion. The next two debates will probably only cement that certainty even further. We're looking at a landslide election coming up. Of that, I have no doubt.
That said, Mitt's still going to have to prove to me that I can trust him. He's sounding a whole lot of notes that resonate with me, but talk is cheap. I want to see it in action.
I'm willing to give him a chance to show me what he's really made of. If he pulls this nation back from the brink of destruction, he'll make a convert of me.
Obamacaare keeps insurance companies from jerking me around and I get to keep my kid on my insurance til I’m 26? What? His jive ain’t working.
Look, Ive got five boys, Romney added. Im used to people saying something thats not always true but just keep repeating it and ultimately hoping Ill believe it. But that is not the case.
He's been unmasked in front of the whole world tonight. He revealed himself to be exactly what we've all been saying for four years now. There's no going back.
It's got to be pretty gloomy in the White House tonight. His whole rotten crew now knows it's over.
When only a Presidential "Face Palm" will suffice.
Heh. How many resumes are going out tonight from the WH staff?
Goodness, if you are a resume writer in DC tonight...I’ll bet you have several hundred calls to return tomorrow.
Must have been a rat talking point. Heard the same line from Mark Shields, PBS. Mark is grieving. Tough to put lipstick on that, well, you know.
Landslide.
zzzzzzzzz exactly! This was the first for me to listen to BO. I was thinking he is so boring and where is this ‘great speaker’ I hear about? An empty chair could have sufficed. Wonder what Clint is doing tonight besides laughing - laughing at an empty chair!
I wish I could convince my octogenarian parents of that.
I just hope they watched the debate tonight. They've been drinking the MSM Kool-Aid for so long, they don't know any other way to think. Maybe now they've seen for themselves what I've been telling them for years about Obama.
Pray for a miracle! .. LOL

Google 'Obamaphone + Free Republic.com'. I think you'll get pages of threads about the Obamaphone lady. She embarrassed the hell out of Obama last week.
Hee hee... Lots of secret phone calls and back room talking going on tonight - that's for sure. We've joked about Dems running away from Obama, but I'm sure it's a stampede after tonight!
I spent the better part of the Primary season relishing the thought of my guy Newt going toe to toe with Obama.
When it turned out that Romney would be the Nominee, I had the “one Liberal versus another Liberal” Debate fear that many of us had.
I was pleasantly surprised by Romney's performance, expecting something entirely different since I've seen Romney speak on a few occasions when I attended CPAC. Engaging and humorous are not the words that come to mind while Romney is speaking. Maybe some Ryan has rubbed off on him.
I owe you an apology. I didn't mean to sound so sarcastic in my post. I just tire of people thinking there is some sort of outcome possible that doesn't include either Obama or Romney becoming President. I took one comment from your original Post that someone else had replied to and ran with it without giving it some additional thought.
Again, my apologies.
