First Romney, then the You Tube clip, now the Marines are to blame? The Obama administration's shifting claims on what took place in Benghazi, Libya on 9/11 became more defiant yesterday when unnamed officials suggested that no amount of security would have mattered in Libya, not even a detachment of US Marines. This came on the same day the administration also admitted the assault was a terror attack not a protest gone wrong. ...

That obama! Always trying to suck up to the military. /s
That’s really interesting.
Barack, is that you? Who would have guessed that 0bambi is a FReeper.

One of the dumbest comments I have heard in quite a while. Two Marine fire teams (4 Marines each) could have stopped the attack. That’s 8 marines, total, I’ll add that two fire teams of Army Rangers are nothing to mess with either.
Every day I think I couldn’t be more ashamed of our Prsident, and then the sun comes up again and I find out I was wrong. This dismal era of American history won’t end soon enough.
Yes, I am Barack Obama.
Give them ammunition, and it wouldn't even be a fight.
Only if they were not allowed to have ammunition! Oh, wait...
The buck stops with him.

A squad of Marines with several SAWS (M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon), Grenade Launchers and in place Claymore mines if the bad guys breach the perimeter, would have been very effective. A couple of Browning 50 Caliber machine guns (The M2) would have rounded out the weapons nicely.
I lived and worked in the Middle East years ago. Money, the prospect of death and power are the only things that get respect.
It seems to me that you have been moving from “I’d hit it!” to a more serious and thoughtful tone to your writing. You write with great enthusiasm and that is a real strength. I urge you to continue your move to more serious writing. Keep your enthusiasm and energy, but discipline it to create writing that is enjoyable to read. “I’d hit it!” is funny, but joking about bedding Marine’s wives and claiming to be satan’s son isn’t much fun to read.
I’m sorry.
Well said. Obama doesn’t seem to hold our honor and pride for our military and country. Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat its failures. Clinton failed to respond to the Embassy attack and the attack on the USS Cole. As a result, Bush had to deal with the ramifications of Clinton’s poor choices on 9/11. Obama is taking us down the same path. Our weakness is making the terrorists stronger.
if adequate security was impossible then why was our ambassador there, 0bangles?
I also agree. Give our marines a chance and weapons. Never under estimate the power of our marines.
Instead I'll just agree with his premise that no security was possible and that leaves no debate at all. If I agree with him all that remains is an indisputable fact; 0bama must be arrogant, stupid and incompetent and it got people killed.
The disgrace and indeed the treachery of the situation is that it is regarded, by the press as well as this execrable White House, as just another annoying distraction on the run-up to re-election.
I’m frankly at the point of viewing Stevens as the determiner of his own fate. If he wanted to place his bet on the narcissist king, then he knew his chances, and his hand was called.
But to sacrifice any more of our warriors on the altar of this mincing, full-time-campaigning son-of-a-bitch is more than I can handle.
Well said. Our country is on the verge of WWIII and Obama has not done anything to assure the American people that he is in control. I think we have heard more from Carney than Obama because he is afraid the Romney campaign will get a gotcha sound bite. This is not leadership. He has spent more time apologizing to the Muslims than talking to us. This is not leadership. It is time to get a new leader before another 9/11. Hitler also suffered from NPD and look how that turned out.
