emocratic incumbent Bill Nelson still leads Republican Connie Mack in Florida's hotly contested U.S. Senate race.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the Sunshine State finds Nelson with 47% support to Macks 40%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, while eight percent (8%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The latest findings show no change from mid-August. Florida remains Leans Democrat in the Rasmussen Reports Senate Balance of Power rankings. Nelson was first elected to the Senate in 2006 to fill the seat vacated by Macks father.
President Obama has now moved slightly ahead in the presidential race in Florida despite the presence of the Republican National Convention in Tampa late last month. But Florida remains a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Electoral College Projections.
Nelson is viewed favorably by 51% of Florida voters and unfavorably by 38%. This includes 21% with a Very Favorable opinion and 20% with a Very Unfavorable one.
For Mack, favorables are 40% and unfavorables 48%, including 17% with a Very Favorable view of him and 24% with a Very Unfavorable one. This marks little change for either man from a month ago.

Between, this MO. and OH numbers, the Senate is all but out of reach at this time. Things can turn around but the 3 candidates in these races are incredibly weak.
By that, I take it you mean your money. /s
Cornelius McGillicuddy is no Marco Rubio.
We are making progress, they were using plus 13/18 in some polls
Did Mack fot for Obamacare? No? Well he's good enough for me this time around.
I’m flying to fl to vote. so are amny others
I’m flying to fl to vote. so are amny others
These all should be victories ....
Voters are affirming the worst legislation in 20 years - Obamacare.
shameful.
Just amazing what a difference 2 years makes. It seems whatever party has a big election, get lazy and pays the price the next time around.
Local TV is full of nasty attack ads against Mack. They seem to be having an effect.
Nelson is a Democrat with all that Democrat baggage he carries around with him. The Democrats all talk like Republicans during an election. He’ll spend your kids and grand kids into debtor’s prison if the Democrat’s hare-brained foreign policy doesn’t get them killed. Nelson is just another Democrat puppet who would sell Florida to the Cubans if Obama and the Democrat party told him to. The Democrats are looting the public treasury and every single Democrat needs to be defeated if we want to have any money left in the public treasury.
Nelson has been running non-stop smear ads against Mack for a while now.
Mack has just started running ads now...so this should change soon. Nelson has bombarded I-4 Corridor with TV ads totally attacking Mack
Nelson probably should not be spiking the football yet...as the fall-out from Islamic Terrorism from last week still is going full bore
Sounds like some great vetting down there by FL GOP voters. /s
Unfortunately, the vetting is weak here in Florida.
Many posting on here still think Marco “La Raza” Rubio is a conservative...when he has done nothing but push Illegal Alien Amnesty, voted with Democrats, and attacked the GOP House members who were asking questions about Huma Abedin.
Anyone who considers Marco Rubio a “conservative”....is not a conservative
Being a rino as he is and having had bad history of being called a playboy; some voters are not liking him too much to pound the street. I’ve seen Mack in public before. He’s GOP. It will take the Tea Party to push him over as it did with Marco. The left wing media hammered on Rubio’s home mortgage problem; as well as him using the state’s GOP credit card making purchases which were not authorized. If the TP had not got in behind his campaign, towards the last 2 weeks, he would not have won. IMO. Maybe the same scenario that Mack will need. The dems will vote for the democrat. Turnout, motivated citizens will be key.
I’m in Central Florida and I haven’t seen a single commercial from Mack, either. I’ve seen several from Nelson but none that talk about him and his accomplishments. Only attacks on Mack.
Mack ads on TV in Tampa Bay area. Nelson also running ads against Mack for not showing up for votes, etc.
Nelson is running a really hateful, nasty ad against Mack. He accuses Mack of being a playboy and shirking his duties in the House.
Polling for FL Senate has been very inconsistent. What seems clear is that Mack will run behind Romney.
