Did the State Department ban Marines from carrying ammo at the U.S. embassy in Cairo? That's what some are reporting, as well as claiming our Ambassador to Egypt, Anne Patterson, had forbidden it.
U.S. Marines defending the American embassy in Egypt were not permitted by the State Department to carry live ammunition, limiting their ability to respond to attacks like those this week on the U.S. consulate in Cairo.
Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson did not permit US Marine guards to carry live ammunition, according to multiple reports on U.S. Marine Corps blog spotted by Nightwatch. She neutralized any US military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy.
At least Marines were present at the embassy in Cairo; despite initial reports, Marines weren't present at our Libyan consulate and Libyan security hired to protect out ambassador gave him up to protesters.
How many other of our embassies lack adequate protection?

Note that the denials all involve WEAPONS, which are not in question. It’s AMMO that was not available. The denial does not address AMMO!
