General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the U.S. military's Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke with Pastor Terry Jones by phone on Wednesday and asked him to withdraw his support for a film whose portrayal of the Prophet Mohammad has sparked violent protests - including one that ended with the death of America's envoy to Libya

TO GEN DEMPSEY: NUTS!
General Petraeus probably but I don’t know for sure.
Overall I believe that's probably the most accurate assessment of the situation to date.
Check this out ping.
Don’t worry. DUmpsey’s fat ass won’t be going door to door confiscating anyone’s guns. Canapes and single malt scotch maybe but not guns.
“He is free to ask.”
Actually, no he is not.
The military has no jurisdiction.
He, no doubt, made the argument that this action puts troops in danger, but that is because of the insane rules of engagement foisted upon our soldiers. Any commanding officer worth his command would reject such rules of engagement, at risk of being relieved of command, or failing to prevail, dutifully resigning his command rather than command troops to ignominious execution.
So general, usually, if you can’t rationalize with the enemy, causing him to withdraw or surrender, you engage him in combat and you kill him.
Is that’s what is next for the common US citizen? What’s a general to do, when the enemy won’t listen to him?
“the idiot pastor”
Why is the pastor an idiot for confronting Islam..
Islam is antithetical to America AND it is also irreconcilable with America.
As Islam demands we convert, become slaves of Muslims, or be killed, we must kill them first. Not too hard to understand, is it?
After all, that “idiot” understands.
Did the General call Barry and ask him to stop spiking the ball on the Osama bin Laden killing?
I want the next Mohammed film to be produced by the other Terry, Terry Gilliam.
Excuse me. Are you the
JudeanLibyan People's Front?
He is free to ask.
Not as any member of the government, especially a General.
Perhaps this idiot pastor is tired of his Coptic brothers and sisters in Egypt being persecuted, beaten, crucified, and killed. One can only take so much and he expressed himself legally.
Im sure the general got involved in this movie too on behalf of Catholics...

The Hell He Is !!!!
Not with his title.
Go back to school, preferably, try one that offers a real education....with, maybe a few civic classes.
This general is making the United States military look like a bunch of clowns by doing this. He should be ashamed of himself.
Thanks! You too! :)
Okay, now THIS raises a very valid point! One I hadn't seen before. My only motivation here is to treat each other, especially the old timers who've been obviously somewhat vetted for their sheer longevity, with some respect. Trolls get sorted out by their mouths pretty quickly. I've seen it happen many times over the years. Most of us have. I don't think there's much reason to be rude as many of you guys seem to be piling on for the comment. But I agree with the analysis above. The Pastor had the guts to speak up and to burn the Koran. Where is the outrage at the militants burning our flag? They kill Christians and Americans all the time. We do nothing but aplogize more for "offending them."
I also agree with the other poster's comment that an American General has no business calling any private citizen and ASKING him to self censor regardless of the cause. I used to work on a general's staff. Such behavior would have been unheard of in those days. But I do know from my experience, that at that level, general's often do stop the profession of "soldiering" and take up politics. I know because I served with Barry McCaffrey, who later became Clinton's "Drug Czar." I could write a book on HIM.
“Excuse me. Are you the Libyan People’s Front?”
No, I’m the People’s Front of Libya, you heretic!
Splitters!
