The White House has brushed aside an offer by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to meet with President Obama later this month, Israeli officials told Fox News. The apparent snub came despite a state of heightened alert over Irans nuclear program and the possibility of Israeli action.
Sources said Netanyahu, though he plans to be in New York City during his brief stay, was offering to travel to D.C. to make the meeting happen. However, the White House apparently said Obamas tight schedule the president is in the middle of a feverish campaign schedule -- would make a meeting difficult.
The turn-down comes amid increasing international anxiety about Irans nuclear program. The U.N. reportedly has found new intelligence showing Iran is moving toward nuclear weapon capability.
But the exchange between the White House and the prime ministers office is the most recent in what is seen as a cool, if not strained, relationship between Obama and Netanyahu, despite Israel being considered one of the United States closest allies.
One well-placed Jewish-American leader told Fox News that the White House has not yet fully ruled out moving things around on the schedule in order to accommodate Netanyahu but that as of now, Obama is scheduled to be on the campaign trail during the window of time when Netanyahu can make it to Washington.

Envy has been around forever (since Cain and Abel) but socialism, which is based on it, is more recent. And the US, through its "educational" system, has been indoctrinating people in socialism/Marxism for many a long year, way before Obama. This is the outcome.
That said, I don't think most of the country cares about Jews one way or the other. Jews are a tiny group, and most of them, especially the high-profile wealthy ones, are very left-wing. The result is that non-Jews may actually be confused about what Jewish opinions are on anything. But outside of the black population, I don't think there's a lot of anti-Semitism here. For some mysterious reason, blacks hate Jews, and one of the big aims of young Jews in the civil rights movement was to get blacks to like them.
I grew up in NYC, and while I'm not Jewish, most of my friends were. And if you (if you're a well-off Jewish girl) could bring a black guy to the dance and freak out your parents, you got a billion extra points on the 1968 coolness scale. But for some reason this never worked to make Jews popular with average, non-media blacks.
Obama is not an authentic American black man (one of my friends in high school called himself an MBB, meaning 'Merican Black Boy), but he's exploiting his suntan to summon up this black antisemitism.
Since a lot of blacks are Muslim-identified, they're not bothered by his other allegiances. This is true even though the Arabs were the big slave traders, and slavery, which is a lousy economic system, only reentered Europe and thus the Americas after the Europeans had had to spend a fortune buying back captured Europeans who were going to be sold on the slave markets in the Middle East. The Portuguese were first in, because they realized that if they could ransom a European and take 20% (the "quinta"), they could buy African slaves from the Arabs very cheaply and sell them on the market, especially in the Americas, at a huge mark up. Then the English got in on it, and most of the other European maritime and commercial powers, such as Spain and Holland, got into transportation and resale.
So if African Americans want to blame somebody, it's the Muslims.
. . . and then there is my stupid sister, who is so pitiful that she still thinks he’s cool.
When we’re together, we talk about the weather. And I’m careful to agree with whatever she says, because she is always right.

add to this, news of the US Consulate in Libya on fire, I am getting a very uneasy feeling of some orchestrated events.
Historical accuracy has never been an important part of liberal victimology.

Netanyahu beckons and they drop everything and run to meet him? After Netanyahu questions our "moral right" in the region?
Stuff like that easily backfires. Sort of like McCain "suspending his campaign" for the financial crisis.
It is my opinion that the debt (US, State, Municipal and personal), the unfunded liabilities (US, State, Municipal and Corporate) and the Trillions of funny dollars printed by the Fed over the last 4 years will lead to a financial cliff and there will be no skid marks left as we careen over it. Also take into account that when this ship sinks it will take all the other ships with it.
This forecast is not influenced by who is elected Nov 6.
This ship takes too long to stop and too long to turn around.
No one will fix it.
Having said all that, it is not the end. But it is the new beginning with lessons well learned.
We will recover and we will scale the heights of greatness once again.
The American rebirth will be led by the Right!

Not surprised The One isn't interested in meeting with Bibi, prior meetings weren't all that much fun.
I believe the simple question Netanyahu wished to ask Obama was “Mr. President, we intend to bomb Iran in October. This may raise gas prices to $7 an gallon. If you don’t approve of this, please let us know and we’ll definitely hold off. Otherwise, we’ll go ahead with our plans.”
>>This certainly sounds like Israel was going to tell him theyre about to attack. If thats the case, Im glad obama didnt meet with him. If he tells obama anything obama will warn all the muslim nations.
You could be right. But I think Netanyahu is too smart to trust Zippy with critical information. I’m betting he was hoping to get a read on Zippy’s attitude. I’m betting the snub tells him what he needs to know.
In Audacity of Hope Empty Chair in Chief Obama writes: I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shouldn’t trust America until Obama and his filthy democrats are out of power... I know that I sure won’t.
Excellent.
Yeah, I agree with everything you have said, positive.
Sadly, my pessimism is not misplaced, and that which is coming cannot be stopped, and perhaps it shouldn’t be stopped.
I’m feeling pretty down today. I think it’s a combination of the date and the realization that we have learned less than nothing.
I hope you’re right about the rebirth of america. The only thing that seems to make any sense anymore is that she will have to be destroyed before she can be rebuilt, but that line of thought comes from people whoom I have no love for at all.
As Pogo said and was picked up by anti-war activists during the war I participated in (Vietnam), "We have met the enemy and he is us."
I am not a pessimist, I am a realist.
The US will not be destroyed.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say "that line of thought comes from people whom I have no love for at all."
Perhaps you mean those who would destroy the USA. Those who think they can, don't understand the situation.
We could correct out fiscal, economic problems overnight by declaring reality...that is bankruptcy. We ain't got it so we ain't paying.
But our situation is not grounded in acceptance of reality, it is based in denial. "We can't do that." "That isn't who we are...etc." But we are there and so denying it will just guide us to the cliff. "...he is us."
But think of the 10s of millions of slacker dependants. Thomas Jefferson said..."Nothing cures unemployment like a good case of hunger."
This is not bad news...this is the road to recovery and comeback.
We still have the base.
Early frost? More like onset of an ice age!
Dennis Prager said today that Jews care more about their leftist leanings than they do about Israel. Asked about how would these Jews feel if the unthinkable happened; would they regret their misplaced lack of support? He said no, they would think that their intentions were right in wishing for “peace” so they would be comfortable.
