Indeed he is.
After a week as topic No. 1 in American politics, former Carmel Mayor Clint Eastwood said the outpouring of criticism from left-wing reporters and liberal politicians after his appearance at the Republican National Convention last Thursday night, followed by an avalanche of support on Twitter and in the blogosphere, is all the proof anybody needs that his 12-minute discourse achieved exactly what he intended it to.
President Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people, Eastwood told The Pine Cone this week. Romney and Ryan would do a much better job running the country, and thats what everybody needs to know. I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for people in the middle.
For five days after he thrilled or horrified the nation by talking to an empty chair representing Obama on the night Mitt Romney accepted the Republican nomination for president, Eastwood remained silent while pundits and critics debated whether his remarks, and the rambling way he made them, had helped or hurt Romneys chances of winning in November.
But in a wide-ranging interview with The Pine Cone Tuesday, he said he had conveyed the messages he wanted to convey, and that the spontaneous nature of his presentation was intentional, too.
I had three points I wanted to make, Eastwood said. That not everybody in Hollywood is on the left, that Obama has broken a lot of the promises he made when he took office, and that the people should feel free to get rid of any politician whos not doing a good job. But I didnt make up my mind exactly what I was going to say until I said it.
Notice how the chair has a LOW BACK REST....

“Trouble with the Curve” opens Sept 21. Let’s show Clint our support and go see it. Bring the family!
Agree. He was just an American man, talking in what I found to be an almost apolitical way, to other Americans. Just laying it out there, as if to say, "look folks, you know it and I know it... this guy's gotta go." It was one of those "speeches" that was more effective as time passed and you thought it about some more... then you realized how much sense it made.
Eastwood said people, including reporters, who were shocked by his remarks are obviously on the left, and he maintained that, while many Americans didnt like the way he handled his convention appearance, millions more have something else on their minds.
A lot of people are realizing they had the wool pulled over their eyes by Obama, Eastwood said.
I am afraid to stand up for what I know is right at this time of my life, and I am ashamed of that fact. I have been audited six times by the IRS in the last 3 years, and, I'm exhausted and more than a little fearful. I have, for the most part, prevailed over the IRS up to now, but fighting a corrupt and spiteful organization with unlimited time and funds is a daunting prospect.
I am nervous about the conservative, polite, bumper sticker on my car; it's probably just a matter of time until my vehicle gets keyed. I bought a Romney-Ryan sign for my front yard, and I am pretty certain vandals will deface my home before the election.
Funny, I never heard of a conservatives damaging cars and homes. Come to think of it, I can only think of one Democrat that I know being harassed by the IRS, and he ran a small business (a Dem no-no, apparently).
So, thanks again, Mr. Eastwood. You did what Americans stomped by this administration are afraid to do. You are a hero.
“Clint Eastwood, you are a Great American!!!”
Sure Rowdy is cool but trail boss Gil Favor was his mentor.
Tall and rugged like Rowdy (Eastwood) Favor (Eric Fleming) would have served America further if he had not died at age 41 in that river in Peru. When one thinks of perfect casting one can’t do better than Fleming as a trail boss.
You are so right, Mr. Eastwood. I loved your skit at the RNC, your message was on target!
The media gave us Obama. You just wait. As soon as everyone starts dumping on Obama, here will come the media to “out” him and then claim to have discovered the fraud Obama is.
S.F.Police Cmmissioner to Harry Callahan:”You Know,Harry,You’ve Been Involved In A Lot Of Shoot-Outs Lately”(”Dirty Harry’s reply):”Shoot-Outs Are Fine As Long As The Right People Get Shot”!You tell em’CLINT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clint, we love you. 82 and still hawt!
I’m starting to think the underlying purpose of the DNC Convention was to launch Hillary’s 2016 campaign by making Bill the centerpiece of the convention.
You know everyone at the convention was thinking, “Damn, I wish Bill was running again.” And, “Should have nominated Hillary in 2008 instead of this loser.”
They won’t admit it, but they are thinking it.
There are still people who can see through the media hype of this President.
Not only is President Obama the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people, the irresponsible media contributed to that hype by not reporting the truth. They still refuse, with this country teetering, to report the facts.Their idealistic adoration has not only rendered them completely incompetent,it has shown the blatant hostility they hold to those who dare to disagree.
Yes, he was great too. I remember him.
Wasn’t Ward Bond in that series also?
T’aint no shame to have to have to take a time out or be benched for 5. Just don’t get out of the game entirely your team may need you!

Hear! Hear!
But why has it taken so long for people to really begin to wake up? This whole episode, assuming we can get things righted this November, should be seen as the greatest wakeup call in American history. That so many could have been duped into embracing this demagogue with hope & enthusiasm, tells us how far we have fallen from an understanding of what made America great, and what actually works in the human quest for a better life.
