Forget the marble pillars, this time there will be a giant 16-foot sculpture of Obama made out of 15.5 tons of sand at the Democratic National Convention. Building a giant sand sculpture of a living leader might be considered a bit tacky with its worshipful implications, but building one during a hurricane in South Carolina is in particularly bad taste.
But if nothing else, at least Obama has found one Shovel Ready Project. And this isnt even the creepiest giant Obama sand sculpture ever made. The winner of that particular competition is still Sudarsan Pattnaik with this nightmare made out of sand.

If you think of yourself as larger than life, you need images that fit accordingly. Just like Stalin, Mao, Castro, Hitler, with their wall-sized photos and murals.
I think sand is an appropriate medium though. Temporary, soon to be washed away and blown by "yesterday's winds."

When I see that sculpture I can’t help but think of Stalin, Mao, Lenin and Castro.

I wonder what it would take for a rogue USAF pilot to do a *low flyover* by the sculpture....or one well-placed M-80.

Mind boggling. It just gets weirder and weirder.

Is this supposed to be a good likeness of Obama??? This sculpture looks like a cartoon character.
Maybe they will touch it up before it’s ready for prime time????

It’s coming at a bad time for us; but we’re getting in food, preparing our water situation, trying to keep the gas tank filled, because I wouldn’t put it past him to throw a tantrum and tie it up in court and rioting if he gets un-elected. I guess October will be restless, maybe even this month.

Several years ago it was noticed that Dem presidential portraits were far larger than the Republican counterparts. Wonder how big the Obama portrait will be?

How appropriate.
In 1920's Chicago, Al Capone friend and associate, racketeer Mike Merlo, was head of the Mafia, (Capone was Neapolitan and at the time couldn't be "made"-he controlled it thru Merlo), which was then known as, the Unione Siciliane.
Merlo met his demise when he died of cancer - see, they all didn't get rubbed out by Tommy guns.
In the glorious tradition of gangster funerals, Merlo's cortege to the cemetary included a grotesque larger-than-life wax effigy of Merlo covered in flowers that rode at the head of the procession in an open-top convertable....
Like I said, from one Chicago mobster all the way down to the current Godfather-in-Chief.....

This is Obama’s big chance because there isn’t likely to be any effort to build statues of him once he’s sent back to Chicago.
To: Daffynition
The ears (and ego) are clearly too small. They need more sand!
