You should offer that bet over at DU. That would be good for about a 10 minute username.

They had already had a lot of rain recently and the ground absolutely could not soak up any more.

Oh good Lord... 90 minutes is not much warning at all. Please spare them.

Would this be under Gov. Jindal’s control?

I live in LaPlace where all the flooding was taking place during the storm. I'm locked in @ work during the duration with scarce phone service. Finally get to hear from my neighbor that stayed, and water came within an inch of getting in the house.

Co worker here had 5' water in his home.

Praying for all those along the Tangi.

"Would this be under Gov. Jindal’s control?"

Realize the problematic earthen dam is in Mississippi ... the flooding occurs downstream into Louisiana ...

I was referring to the OP’s report of a request for evacuation instructions in LA—sounded like a LA state emergency response issue to me.

In other words, typical government efficiency.

It's worse than we thought; this was a 'government' operation from the start!

From:

ANNUAL REPORT OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE
CIVILIAN CONSERVATION CORPS

FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 1939

Located deep within:
ir.library.oregonstate.edu/xmlui/bitstream/handle/1957/12120/Ann_Rep_Dir_Civ_Con_Cor_1939.pdf?sequence=1

we find:

Largest Park Dam Completed

Twelve dams were completed, including the longest CCC park dam yet constructed in the East, a 2,000-foot earthen barrier which impounds a 540-acre basin in the Tangipahoa River at Percy Quin State Park, Mississippi.

Number one on the priority list is to have available a bridge for Geraldo and Shep to stand on to wet themselves and CRY REAL TEARS!!!!
