Most Missourians are common sense conservatives. That's why it's called the SHOW ME State.

I didn't vote for Akin in the primary but I can not, will not, ever vote for Claire McCaskill. Todd Akin will have my support in November.

Could someone please explain why he dropped 20 points after his rape comments and how he expects to beat the witch?

A backlash has set in here in Akin’s suburban St. Louis congressional district, where supporters said the national party had no right to attempt to force out a duly-elected candidate.... who thinks raped woman have magic powers to avoid pregnancy.

I am not from Missouri, but I would dearly love to see Akin win. Why? Because I, in a vindictive moment, also would love to see all the pundits (Rush, Rove, Hannity, Coulter, et.al.)plus the Republican elites, Democratic trolls embarrassed to the nth degree.

That’s very interesting. Will you send him any $$$? That is what he wants right now.

He hasn’t done any public rallies since he pontificated about “genuine rape”. Lots of hecklers will be there, that’s for sure. Maybe some GOP hecklers?

That's fine, and I would prefer Akin win, but the Republican Party HAS to verbally distance themselves from extremely toxic, scientifically wrong, mysogynistic comments like Akin's. Simple matter of self-preservation.

Now if Missouri Conservatives can stuff his incredibly stupid, damaging comments back into his mouth and tell him to STFU in the future about rape and abortion except for repeatedly apologizing for his 'magic womb' idiocy, more power to them.

Akin was being a “Mr Know-it-all” and continued to elaborate on a subject he didn’t know enough about.

Has it been a life long habit? Or was being in spot light of all the attention going to his head?

How does anyone rehab that? (unless your on Democrat media free pass)

I’d encourage him to go get help and would welcome him back when he is well again.

"Akin faces more of an uphill race now," said Jay Dow, a political scientist at the University of Missouri in Columbia. "The question is whether moderate Republicans will turn out."

Who is he kidding??? That was his tenure speaking. Does he think they will vote for McCaskill and Obamacare???

Democrats contributed to Akin in the primary race, thinking he would be the easiest to beat (because of his 100% solid conservative record). I hope their strategy backfires big time.

I was one of those here who was urging him to quit.

Now that he has decided to stay I urge everyone to vote for him.

Like the race between Romney and Obama.

There is no other choice.

The Devil or the Deep Blue Sea./

I am a Missouri conservative, and I am NOT "rallying to Akin." Yet.

September 25--that is the pivotal date, the last day Akin could withdraw and be replaced. If Akin consistently polls badly between now and September 25 and shows no signs of recovering, then I hope he withdraws for the good of the cause. If he stays in through September 25 and is the only alternative to McCaskill, and looks like he has a chance, then I will actively support him.

The conservatives THINK their present enemy is Obama. While Obama certainly needs to be beaten, there will be no systemic change in American politics until the cowardly establishment GOP is beaten to a pulp.

If Obama wins this year and Missouri senator race is lost to the GOP, that of course would be unfortunate. But the real and immediate enemy is the political culture in the Republican party that sneered at the Tea Party, were petrified by outspokenness of Santorum or Cain, won’t let Ron Paul speak at the convention, and now join the feminazis in piling on Akin.

What the GOP of GHW Bush, Olympia Snowe, Robert Dole, John McCain got us? What will the GOP of Romney give us? Clinton Lite, Obama Lite? Go to hell.

When the GOP establishment learns that they cannot win by keeping conservatives off their tickets, they will begin to win elections across the board and then we shall change the face of America. Not before.
