Rasmussen will be releasing a poll this morning showing Akin costing us dearly in Missouri: McCaskill 48% Akin 38%.
Time to pack it up and stop screwing us, big guy.
I honestly don’t know what the rules say but I would think that if he wants to drop out, it should make it easier to replace him.
As it stands now, it appears like he is trying to let the democrat win and also harm other GOP candidates.
There are nearly 30 Senate seats up for grabs and we are only hoping to wing 3 or 4?
Akin is a staunch idiot and is going nowhere now.
PREDICTION: On the morning of November 7, Claire McCaskill will be lionised by her fellow Dems as having saved Harry Reid’s/Hussein Obama’s sorry a$$es and preserved Obamacare...all for just $1.5M.
If they yell it over over again that McCaskill has won with over 2 months to go until the election makes it so truuuue! LoL.
It is only a 5% shift in votes in this Rasmussen poll would make this Senate race even. That’s very doable if these guys can get off Akin’s back. I’m sure OBot McCaskill recent “support” is about as small as a micron in depth.
Which is why I fear we're stuck with him.
RINOs always seem to prefer letting the Dem win an election than any social conservative.
Yes, here it is:
re: So, to summarize, “right or wrong, winning is everything” to you.
No, you put words in my mouth, and that is unsanitary.
We pick our battles and all make some compromises in life. If a person does not believe in medical treatment, he may compromise that to save his child. Or have a dead child. A person who does not believe in violence may have to employ violence and take the life of someone who broke into his house and is threatening the lives of his family. Or have a dead family.
In this case it is not even actually a compromise. Another Republican, who is pro-life, the position we both hold, can replace an arrogant guy who is unelectable. Yes, I believe in winning this one. The result will be a pro-abort not going back to the Senate. Most of us would see that as a good thing. If you see that as giving up on principle, we certainly see it differently. You can go down fighting and feel good about it when you lose. I want to win this one, and win it with another pro-lifer.
Akin is PCA. IMO, he's stayin'. Not saying I'm in favor of it, nor against it. Just sayin' he's stayin'...
Thank you RNC and Karl Rove and the blasting the man has been getting 24/7 from the crazy media. Hope time works this out. People should be ashamed of how they have behaved over this. Never seen so much dumb down liberal way of thinking about a conservative. The hate may cause us the seat. Look in the mirror, is what I say.
Your position reminds me of McCain. It is his personal belief that presidential campaign has to be run on honorable principle without negative message—especially against a person who if elected would go down in history as the first African American president. The winning outcome is not as important as having it done ‘honorably’.
An Akin’s supporters replied to me saying that not everyone has economy as the most important issue. Some, like him, think social issues have been put aside by Romney, etc. So, they are happy that Akin’s controversy changed the discourse from the economy to abortion in the case of rape as it would force every Republican candidates to answer questions about those issues.
1. For the purposes of this Note, the term rape refers to circumstances in which there has been sex without consent as claimed by the assaulted woman; it does not necessarily mean that the perpetrator has been tried and convicted of rape in a court of law.

"Opposition" research works both ways.
Guess what the "big news" was yesterday!
Joe Biden knew 3 Presidents intimately!
And his home town is really Bend Ova. snicker
What is the "big news" today? /sarcasm
“This goof ball is an national embarrassment. If you don’t see that, you are too blinded by emotions.”
I’m not in Missouri, I’m not “an Akin supporter”, nor am I even a “hard pro-lifer” (my attitudes on the issue are more realistic).
But from a viewpoint of reason, and not emotions, the Pubbies are in a pickle with Mr. Akin.
There is no “clean way” to remove him from the ballot — he has to remove himself, and it may take some “dirty dealing” in order to persuade him to that effect.
If Mr. Akin doesn’t wish to abdicate, the rest of the Republicans are going to have to figure out just how to handle him for the remainder of the campaign.
They can choose to ignore him, to castigate him, to claim he “is not one of us”. They can do all of that, but he will still be there, still be the Republican candidate for senator from Missouri, and still be the only person who can remove Claire McCaskill from office. The outcome of such a scenario may indeed be bleak, for if Mr. Akin remains the candidate, the Republicans will lose not only one seat but may lose the possibility of taking the Senate from the ‘rats as well. In an absolutely worst-case situation, Obama may win there, as well. Regardless of how overly-optimistic others here on FR about Mr. Romney’s chances of beating Obama in November, I still predict it will be a very close race, and a squeaker in the electoral college (but that’s a subject for another thread). Lose Missouri, and Romney may lose the presidency.
Suffice to say, I fully-realize the implications of Mr. Akin remaining in the race, as much as you do.
But again, he IS THERE. He may or may not withdraw. His resolve seems to be strengthened (not weakened) by the controversy. He believes he can and will win. Short of doing to him what the fictional network UBS did to Howard Beale, the Pubbies had better figure out how to make the best of this, and they had better figure that out soon.
Which is why I proffer that given the realities of the situation in Missouri, if Todd Akin chooses to stand his ground and fight for McCaskill’s Senate seat, the Republicans will have no choice other than (after allowing him a “probationary period” in which to rehabilitate himself) to re-introduce at least some measure of financial and tactical support for him. This becomes the only pathway out of the imbroglio.
If he is going to remain the candidate, the only possible choices are:
1. To NOT support him, in which case he will certainly lose, or
2. To support him, in which case he may lose anyway, but then again, he might just beat her.
The air here at FR is going to get thick with the huffin’ and puffin’ of the self-righteous who say that Akin is a (insert your favorite epithet here) and should be run out of town. But as long as he ain’t goin’, those are but reply after reply of wasted words that aren’t going to change the situation.
If Akin stays in, the only logical choice that advances conservative interests will be to support him.
And perhaps suggest that in the future, he attend a few classes on human biology . ;)
Oh is she running for the Sennate too ???
Oh Willard will be so glad...theyre stand on the issues match so perfectly..
She’s one he will be happy to have on the R side of the aisle...
