Is it really Paul Ryan?

Posted on 08/10/2012 11:38:32 PM PDT by wrhssaxensemble

Anyone else wondering if maybe this could be a cover for the pick of Rubio? I've noticed that so far Rob Portman and Tim Pawlenty have announced that they received calls from Romney saying they wouldn't be his runningmate but declined to say who will. Thus far I haven't (correct me if I missed it) heard that Rubio has not heard it. It also seems strange that this news would leak this early and the time picked for the event tomorrow also seems odd. Does anyone else think that maybe the rumors about Ryan is just a cover for the pick of someone else, likely Rubio?

We could do far worse than Ron Paul if your interest is saving the US from financial collapse

Romney is also below 50% in FL per Rasmussen. I just don’t see the “lock.” Would love to see it, though!

But Romney is NOT the incumbant President. Everyone has an opinion on Obama and well over 50% of the FL electorate has decide they don’t like him as POTUS, so they will either vote for Romney or not vote at all, either way Romney picks up Florida.

Five minutes after the official announcement, Ryan will be the worst supervillain this country has seen since five minutes after Palin was announced in 2008. I love how lefty college kids (at least, that’s the mentality) hate someone with white hot passion that they hadn’t even really heard of just moments before.

By that logic he wins PA and OH (and probably every other state but CA, NY, HI and IL). I’m not complaining. I hope you’re right. But it seems a bit optimistic to me at this point. Is there precedent you could easily cite to back it up?

I think Romney has a very good chance of having a very big win for just that reason. Obama is a KNOWN quantity now and NOT especially attractive to the majority of the electorate.

I, like Rush and some others, do not think that this election will be close.

Romney has given a gift to the party—a great future leader who is focused on the one issue that is in the process of dumping the country straight into the dustbin of history (=out of control deficit spending).

He has given a gift to himself—assassination protection since his enemies hate Ryan more than they hate thim.

If true this is a brilliant move on all fronts—and some folks on FR may have to rethink their negative view on Romney.

This is his first big real decision—and it is an outstanding one.

I tend to hang onto Rush’s optimism about a landslide as well; however, he was pretty depressing on Thursday. Brought me down a bit.

Yes, I believe Florida is very winnable for Romney. Florida plus Colorado and Iowa with Wisconsin thrown in as a kicker makes me believe the Romney-Ryan Ticket can easily surpass the magic number of 270. If Colorado and Iowa fall to RR, so will No. Carolina and Virginia.

The human profiles in the shape of an “R” that make up the Romney campaign logo lend themselves well to another “R” on the ticket.

I believe Ann Coulter has a good point that Romney is a difficult opponent for Zero because of his squeaky cleanness.

If it is true that romney has picked Paul Ryan, he might actually receive the formal endorsement of Sarah Palin. And if THAT happens, that’s all she wrote because the TEA Party will kick a$$.

And you can bet that if the pick is really Paul Ryan, he has been vetted 18 ways to Sunday.

At 16, Ryan found his father dead of a heart attack. Since then, Ryan says he has worked to stay in shape, saying his grandfather and great-grandfather also died from heart attacks. Link
Already, a tiny little article out this a.m. bears this paragraph. And since Ryan's dad died at 55, his grandfather at 57, and his g-grandfather at 59, will this cast any doubt with the voter? The article also mentions Ryan worked as a salesman for Oscar-Mayer when he was in college.

You are probably right. Democrats have accused Ryan of wanting to take Medicare aware from retirees/elderly. I figure the Democrats will run ads accusing him of that 24/7 in Florida’s large retirement community, thus sinking Romney in Florida. If that happens, it’s over.......and America is finished.

You ar correct sir. Picking Ryan clearly deliniates the choice for America this November. People have been complaining that Romney has only attacked Obama, without spelling out where he wants to go. Having Ryan on the ticket makes uit a clear choice between ever larger government and ruinous debt, vs. reform and fiscal sanity. Plus he’s young enough to be a strong contender in four or eight years. At the same time he doesn’t overshadow Romney, and he’s liked by both conservatives and the GOP-E.

Rubio’s got serious vetting problems and is a complete and blatant surrender on illegal immigration.

FL is the one state Ryan risks with his budget plan’s treatment of Medicare, but he helps not only in WI but in other Midwestern states.

It could also put a dent in the pro-2nd Ammendment vote. Oscar-Mayer has a long history of donating to Gun-Control causes according to a list of businesses put out by the NRA years ago.

Do you really think it matters by now?

NWS (National Weather Service) is gonna buy 250,000,000 rounds of ammo. No matter who’s elected.

While I might be exaggerating, I am damn sure not kidding!

And one in a hundred will get the meaning. Yolks on you.

Just do your job. Keep your mouth shut and vote.
