Romney will announce his choice for Vice President in Norfolk, Virginia at 8:45am EST, Romney campaign spokesman Lenny Alcivar told reporters in an email this evening.
The announcement is being made at the USS Wisconsin. Its still unclear whom he will choose, but the odds that it is Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., seemed to increase when National Reviews Robert Costa noted that a charter plane flew from Boston to Ryans hometown of Janesville, Wis., today.

So what you seem to be saying is that the Republicans should change their platform to embrace the welfare society?
You socked it to "marygonzo" on that one. She's been silenced and probably crawled back under the rock she crawled out from under. Good job!
Maybe just don’t taunt them so blatantly.
Some people will never be satisfied. They ony other choice was Rubio and he presented his own set of difficulties.
If that is indeed the case, this Republic is finished and deserves to fall into the ash heap of history. I believe that we still hold a bare majority that wants this country to survive and succeed. This election is the last chance.
At this point everything matters.
I just came from the Manassas, VA rally. There were plenty of “seasoned” citizens there. HUGE turnout - people are thrilled about Ryan.
The only people there for Obama were paid to be there - a few “Educators for Obama” and some thugs who were bussed in from “elsewhere.”
Poll a few from Florida and see what they think. Better yet, poll them a few weeks from now. Enthusiast gatherings never tell you anything you didn't already know.
If people have lived through 4 years of Obama and still want to keep him in office, they are fools or traitors.
I’m tired of the selfish senior meme. If people don’t want to pull together to save this country, they’ll have a lot less than they do now. Let them go back to the Northeast and secede.
If you were born into that it’s hard to dream about a return of something you never knew. Granted.
we're sposed to vote for president, not vice president...thats a twofer FAIL !!!
This whole Ryan conservative hero thing appears manufactured to me. I remember first hearing 'them' start this “,,,he's so smart, serious brave and he really understands budget issues..” back in mid 2010 over Obama-care.
Ryan has a real history of standard Republicans real positions and votes like TARP and that 2011 debt extension bill that Republicans like him supported and now try to blame Obama for. That is why Romney picked him.
Then the famous ‘Ryan plan’ that became a loyalty vote in the House and soon forgotten afterward and Republicans did their best to avoid talking about it as Dems try to use it.
Here's something to watch for. See if Romney or Ryan make the specifics of the Ryan plan an issue in the campaign, or they just try to dodge it as they have been .
We are supposed to follow Romney/Ryan because the Dems complain about the Ryan plan regardless of what he is doing.
Supported TARP
-Auto Bailouts
-Medicare Plan D
-Every Bush budget, no cuts
-No Child Left Behind
Out of curiosity, did any Republican -- in the House or Senate -- vote "No" on all of the above?
The auto-bailout was defeated in the 2008 vote largely by Republicans and afterward Bush unilaterally used TARP funds on his own for the mini-bailout.
They don’t seem too worried about it. Are you expecting some huge ground-s-well of voter support over Ryan?
Ryan :
-Supported TARP
-Auto Bailouts
-Medicare Plan D
-Every Bush budget, no cuts
-No Child Left Behind
- He backed a bill in 2007 to bar employer discrimination based on sexual orientation, saying at the time that his gay friends "didn't choose to be gay."
And more recently that 2011 debt extension bill that he supported and Republicans now try to blame Obama for(the automatic cuts).
You must recall the sad history of how TARP was passed. I still find it painful to think of.
Ryan's history of being a Republican loyalist first has paid off for him.
“My Dad died when I was young, he was an exceptional man. One thing I remember him saying was that if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the rpoblem. Regretably, President Obama has become part of the problem, and Mitt Romney is the solution.
“Whatever the explanations, whatever the excuses, his is a record of failure.
“President Obama, and too many like him in Washington, have refused to make difficult decisions because they are more worried about their next election than they are about the next generation.
“It is our duty to save the American Dream for our children, and theirs.
“Im proud to stand with a man who understands what it takes to foster job creation in our economy, someone who knows from experience, that if you have a small businessyou did build that.
“We Americans look at one another’s success with pride, not resentment, because we know, as more Americans work hard, take risks, and succeed, more people will prosper, our communities will benefit, and individual lives will be improved and uplifted.
“But America is more than just a place...it’s an idea. It’s the only country founded on an idea. Our rights come from nature and God, not government. We promise equal opportunity, not equal outcomes.
“This idea is founded on the principles of liberty, freedom, free enterprise, self-determination and government by consent of the governed.
“The commitment Mitt Romney and I make to you is this:
“We won’t duck the tough issues...we will lead!
“We won’t blame others...we will take responsibility!
“We won’t replace our founding principles...we will reapply them!
“We can turn this thing around. Real solutions can be delivered. But, it will take leadership. And the courage to tell you the truth.
“Mitt Romney is this kind of leader. I’m excited for what lies ahead and I’m thrilled to be a part of America’s Comeback Team. And together, we will unite America and get this done.”
Paul Ryan, August 11, 2012m accepting the VP position with Mitt Romney.

Hey, at least he’s in the right wing of the GOPE. Eh? ;D
Plenty of worse choices both in terms of helping with the campaign and governing.
I find myself in a position where I don’t want Romney, and I for damned sure don’t want Obama. I also find myself not finding either the Romney or Obama team to be worthy of my vote. What’s worse, I also realize that Romney will do more damage to the nation, not repair it, and Obama would come close to destroying it.
Some will say that Romney will at least fix the employment scene, get people back to work, and improve our fiscal soundness. Okay, what do I base that on?
Did Bush improve our employment scene and fiscal soundness?
Yes, Romney would probably increase jobs, level out the real estate situation, and improve on our economic standing. And it’s my take he would do all this using severely flawed methods, laying more land mines we’d be stepping on for the next decade.
We are in a world of hurt.
The one brighter aspect of this, is that Ryan can at least defend himself. He can at least articulate a thought process and take down Biden, and do severe damage to Obama.
Then what? You’ve listed the parts that should worry us. Many of us find that it does.
Then Sarah swoops in to the rescue, okay folks, I endorse them, you now have my blessing to support them too.
We’ve got one mell of a hess on our hands.
It’s just what we said it would be like last March.
It’s so bad that people who endorse these folks aren’t doing much more than soiling themselves.
There’s an old saying, that in a system like ours, people pretty much get what they deserve. I can buy into that to a point, but no people deserve what we’re now faced with.
Shame on you Republicans. It has finally come to this, where even the professed ‘shining star’, has had to stoop to approving of what we have lofted for occupancy of the White House.
Well folks, enjoy...
