LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- A former beauty queen is suing the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department after she says deputies kicked down the wrong apartment door, pointed guns at her and her fiancee and watched as she got out of bed, naked.
Calenche Ranae Manos, a former Miss Nevada 2007, says in her lawsuit that the incident happened on the night of November 15, 2011.
Manos and her fiancee, Eric Otto Ryder, say deputies had a search warrant for apartment "C" but entered their unit -- clearly marked as apartment "A."
"At that time Ms. Manos was still in bed and was naked," the complaint, obtained by Courthouse News Service, states.
"The sheriff deputies, all of which were male and armed with guns, ordered Ms. Manos to get out of bed and then watched as she attempted to do so," it alleges.
The officers then spent a "significant amount of time" in the apartment before they realized their mistake, according to the complaint.
One of the officers allegedly joked that Manos would have a good story to tell at Thanksgiving.
Manos is seeking damages for negligence, false imprisonment and civil rights violations.
She is also accusing the deputies of sexual harassment.
I did not say, nor did I even suggest that the victim was somehow to blame. That was a conclusion you derived all by yourself.
The previous poster made an observation that I agreed with so before you get yourself all tightly wrapped around your keyboard you should know that I share your observation and concern over the escalation of police/government power and their proclivity to be abusive and reckless in their intrusion upon private citizens.
No its not. You never again will have the same chance to have posted On the Other Hand . . .

Well - At the end of the day - It’s the Same Difference.
(give me a minute - I’ll come up with other tired overused pop statements)
It’s unfortunate that LEOs are insulated from personal liability for their violations.
Cut the check, Dano!
AMEN to that!!
Why does commitment make sex right or wrong? How committed is “committed”? A guy is usually “committed” to stay until the act is done. Maybe until she gets stale or he sees somebody better. Maybe as long as it’s comfortable for him to hang around. Is that “committed”?
Marriage is the promise to stay and to be faithful until death. It doesn’t always work out that way, but if that is the intention then why not make the promise? How true is the intention to stay if you make sure the doors and windows are all wide open just in case you decide to leave? I’ve known couples that cohabitated for years and then when they got married they couldn’t handle it; they had said they were committed before but when they closed the doors behind them they couldn’t handle it. What they had thought was commitment was really just a comfortable situation they knew they could leave at any time.
The cops did wrong here, but she’s pretty stupid if she didn’t just grab the sheet and wrap it around her while she got up.
It’s not that they can’t read, it’s just that they don’t care. If they cared even the least bit about not kicking in the wrong door, then they would take the bare minimum step of double-checking the address, which they never seem to do. So, I can only conclude that it doesn’t bother most police officers at all when they make these mistakes, probably because there are absolutely no consequences for them when they do.
Indeed. Once upon a time when the church held much more sway, and such interpersonal extramarital matters were taken much more seriously, a “betrothed” couple were allowed such intimacies.
Ultimately, their souls will be responsible for all of their actions. I also think that things will be changed when the wrong person is terrorized.
LLS
And these yahoos used their power to break into a home and harass the occupants at gunpoint for a sex show.
If we tried something like that, we have a fairly good idea of what would happen to us.
With great irresponsibility should come overwhelming punishment, but unfortunately, in a police state we know the only one who will pay is the taxpayer.
The yahoos responsible likely won't be so inconvenienced.
They are immune from the damage they do...at least on this side of the veil.
It’s that old wrong door trick again.
“shes pretty stupid if she didnt just grab the sheet and wrap it around her while she got up.”
Usually when the cops raid your house and are screaming at you in the middle of the night with guns drawn, one of their primary commands is “put your hands on your head”. Pretty hard to hold a sheet up if you are in that position.
They should have shot her for that. And then kicked the door in of every other residence looking for harlots more like her.
(/s added in case any DU types think I was not being sarcastic)
So do I...
You sound like a lonely man. You ought to try to meet a nice decent woman.
