SOUP FOR THE TROOPS
WELCOME TO
(where our troops, allies and their families can refresh themselves)
Good morning, Everyone.
Good morning to our
Military, our Allies, and their families.
Thank you, Ma, for preparing the Canteen for today's activities
DC METROLAND WEATHER
~ Today...Patchy fog this morning.
Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 90s.
Light and variable winds...
Becoming south around 5 mph this afternoon.
~ Tonight...Partly cloudy.
Lows in the lower 70s.
South winds 5 to 10 mph.
Making Z Zoup
A pinch of this...a dash of that...
more Olympics sprinkled in
The Official Olympic Flag ~
Created by Pierre de Coubertin in 1914,
the Olympic flag contains five interconnected rings
on a white background.
The five rings symbolize the five significant continents
and are interconnected to symbolize the friendship
to be gained from these international competitions.
The rings, from left to right, are
blue, yellow, black, green, and red.
The colors were chosen because
at least one of them appeared on the flag
of every country in the world.
The Olympic flag was first flown
during the 1920 Olympic Games.
The Olympic Motto ~
In 1921, Pierre de Coubertin,
founder of the modern Olympic Games,
borrowed a Latin phrase from his friend,
Father Henri Didon, for the Olympic motto:
Citius, Altius, Fortius ("Swifter, Higher, Stronger").
The Olympic Flame ~
The Olympic flame is a practice continued
from the ancient Olympic Games.
In Olympia (Greece), a flame was ignited by the sun
and then kept burning until the closing of the Olympic Games.
The flame first appeared in the modern Olympics
at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam.
The flame itself represents a number of things,
including purity and the endeavor for perfection.
Real Gold Medals ~
The last Olympic gold medals
that were made entirely out of gold
were awarded in 1912.
The Medals ~
The Olympic medals are designed
especially for each individual Olympic Games
by the host city's organizing committee.
Each medal must be at least three millimeters thick
and 60 millimeters in diameter.
Also, the gold and silver Olympic medals
must be made out of 92.5 percent silver,
with the gold medal covered in six grams of gold.
I've got to make my rounds.
Please stay right where you are.
Keep the troops entertained and the Canteen clean...
Cause...if you don't...I'll tell Ma!

Good morning CMN ((HUGS))
Happy Thursday.
If boss man says ok then this could be my FRiday. My oldest grandchild arrived at the house yesterday and will be spending a couple of days. I’m going to take tomorrow off so we can do something. She’ll be heading to college (first year) in a couple weeks.

It’s in Broward, and under contract. I just didn’t want a tornado to blow it away before the papers were passed.
It’s a short sale, so I will not get anything.

Yeah...Welcome to obamaville. Oh Well, naked we come into this world, and naked we leave it.
To: LUV W
I just watched “The Birds”, uncensored and uninterrupted, yesterday. Far scarier than ANY blood and guts movie that is in Technicolor, Cinemascope, High Def, Stereo, CGI FX nowadays.
To: LUV W
Very Scary.
As if I haven’t had enough aggravation lately.
To: beachn4fun
Thanks! Looking forward to everything but the loooooong 7 1/2 hour drive. LOL!
Have a great day, Early Bird! (((hugs)))
