Lloyd Marcus, the Chairman of leading conservative group Campaign to Defeat Obama PAC released the following statement today in response to an ABC news report that former Vice President Dick Cheney criticized Sarah Palins qualifications to serve in the White House:
To suggest that Sarah Palin does not possess the necessary qualifications to serve in the White House is ridiculous on its face. Ever since she was selected in 2008 by the Republican partys nominee for president, then ratified by the GOP membership at the Republican Party convention, she has proven time and time again to be an extremely capable, inspiring and visionary leader.
Palin has proven her mettle in the years since 2008. She has become one of the most prominent and vocal leaders of the tea party movement, and her campaign efforts have single-handedly influenced the outcome of countless senatorial, congressional and gubernatorial elections because the American people believe in her leadership skills and trust her judgment. They know that she knows a great leader when she sees one because she herself is a great leader.
Contrast that with the disastrous record Barack Obama has compiled since 2008. Obama has failed the people of this nation and brought harm to our economy, national defense and the American spirit.
Campaign to Defeat Obama Vice Chair Andrea Shea King concluded:
Sarah Palin will never be the safe choice of the GOP establishment blue bloods.
"In bucking the good old boys throughout her entire career and proving that she could rack up accomplishments and make big differences -- as both an executive in office and a citizen activist and Tea Party leader -- she has proven she is more valuable than the whole lot of them.
"Sarah Palins record and leadership abilities speak for themselves and anybody would do better to emulate them than to marginalize themselves by taking swipes at her.
The Left and their allies in the media will always try to personally malign conservatives for their own political purposes, but it is our responsibility to not only prevent ourselves from being sucked into these tricks and giving credence to these baseless attacks, but also to proactively fight back. This proud American conservative will not stand for these despicable sneering smears against Sarah Palin, and no conservative should.

I hate it when our own stab us in the back! Cheney is a VERY big disappointment. Shame on him.
With Mitt up in the polls...
Please let me in on how you know this??
I’d like to see him gone. But reality says.. He’ll be there till Nov 6th.
For the record. I would much rather vote for Palin over Mitt.
There’s going to be alot of disappointed Freepers. Sarah Palin is not going to be President, @ least this go-round.
I like her but it’s not going to happen. She’s too polarizing. Forget the Democrats .... within the Republican Party there’s a divide. Don’t even think about running a third party - Obama wins.
Does Sarah Palin really want to run for President ? I’ve never heard her state that or seen it in legitimate news.
We can start comparing her to the women that are notorious democrats such as Maxine Waters. I think it is insulting that this subject is brought up by the Republicans. The democrats aren’t wasting time justifying the hell-cats they have put in office.
ya know..
I think Dick got the heart of a liberal...
it would make sense. They never used it so it was probably in great shape.
Sadly, it’s starting to affect his thinking.
Wake up and get real. Palin, as much as I love her, and wish she were our candidate, IS NOT GOING TO BE THE ONE GETTING THE NOD THIS YEAR!
I thought his daughter said she was.
Not in my book. Besides her background in Alaska (which is not as stellar as is sold here), when she quit her job to become a national player, that was the first strike. When she backed RINOS like Carly Fiorina, Juan McCain, Orrin Hatch, Pam Bondi, and Karen Handel, that was the second strike. When she decided to grandstand for a living instead of studying historic, regulatory, and economic background information to qualify for that office (as Reagan did), that was it for me. It demonstrated that she had no intent to do the homework to be truly qualified to be CIC.
bookmarking for later
I share your disappointment that Sarah isn’t running. However, I’m sure she carefully prayed about her decision before making it.
I’m disgusted with the GOPE, and that goes for that Michael Savage who basically said the same thing as Cheney. He goes so far as to all her “Mush, Mush.” Maybe I will start calling him “lush, lush.” Seems to me he has a drinking problem.
I’m sick of these blue bloods and their attacks on Sarah. However, I have one consolation, and I will quote the Bible - “touch NOT mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.”
I’m not saying Sarah is a prophet - just that she is a child of God and He will fight her battles for her. And, those who oppose and speak evil of his children will also be brought to task. Vengeance is mine, and I will repay - saith the Lord.
I’m a realist and don’t expect group-think out of anyone, but Cheney should know better.
He may as well have said Sarah has no gravitas.
I can tell you that since 2008 she DID put in efforts to become more informed and engaged on many of the key issues of the day, and had a staff that worked to keep her informed and able to speak on some of the big issues of the day, and some of the complexities associated with them.
I too share your frustration with some of her endorsements (as you said John McCain and Orrin Hatch especially), but it's not fair to not also cite the dozens of other GREAT endorsements she made and the impact she had in helping anti-establishment candidates overcome their establishment opponents.
I understand we disagree on the larger point of whether she is well-suited for the White House (I believe she is and you believe she is not), however, she has a better track record of experience and a better perspective and understanding on the fundamentals of how/why this nation was founded and the thinking of our Founding Fathers than the current president - there's no comparison.
We’re less than 100 days out - it’s not going to happen.
I do believe Sarah should have a cabinet position, but I doubt that’s going to happen either.
“Sadly, its starting to affect his thinking.”
Anti-rejection meds do affect your thinking.
Please don't even suggest that Obama is anywhere near Sarah Palin's league.
Love it. You've correctly positioned those two people, although I doubt that Palin would find any need for a documented liberal on her cabinet.
