McCrory has large lead in new poll

Republican Pat McCrory has a 10-point lead over Democrat Walter Dalton in the governor's race, according to a new poll.

McCrory, the former Charlotte mayor lead Dalton, the lieutenant governor, by a 47-37 percent margin, according to a poll conducted for The Civitas Institute, a conservative advocacy group based in Raleigh. Barbara Howe, the Libertarian candidate had 7 percent.

That is a widening of the race since the last Civitas Poll taken nearly a month ago, which had McCrory leading Dalton by a 46-44 percent margin with Howe at 7 percent.

The spin: “Any one poll is a snapshot of voter sentiment,” said Francis De Luca, Civitas president. “More important are the trends over time, and those trends show McCrory maintaining a significant lead.''

The poll of 600 likely voters was conducted July 16-18 by National Research Inc. and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Dalton is done. He has no money and Obama cannot save him in NC.

A number of things I've read about NC recently, including this one, suggest to me that Osama Obama needn't even bother campaigning there this fall.

NC is going back Red in Nov. Obama is going to lose every State that ‘turned’ in the last election.

In addition to having a Republican administration in NC for the first time since reconstruction I hope to see gains in the US House Representatives from NC. I fully expect the district I live in to return to R control since Heath Shuler decided not to run for re election.

There have been two Republican governors in North Carolina since 1973. James E. Holshouser (1973-1977) and James G. Martin (1985-1993). The recent development that I believe was a first since reconstruction was the Republican takeover in the State legislature.

It will be nice to have a Republican governor and legislature for 2013. And hopefully McCrory will help Romney in NC.

You may intend, "Republican controlled government" -- although one could argue that neither Holshouser and Martin could really change the administration in a single term given the entrenched, hostile bureaucracy in place and the limits placed on the power of the governorship.

Your good neighbor, South Carolina, kicked out every rat conresscritter from the state’s delegation in the 2010 election except the racist commie jim clyburn. Every rat holding state-wide office was also thrown out. Best wishes in carrying out your effort to cleanse the good state of North Carolina of filthy, commie rats.

But but but HOW can THIS be? Everybody (in the Democrat cheerleading media) KNOWS North Carolina is a swing state where “Oh boy is it gonna be sooooooooooo close!”?

Maybe we will stop hearing this crap after the morons in the leftist press read this.
Oh BTW Democrats how's that convention thingie comin’ along?

They kicked out 1 democrat, cause there was only one democrat besides Clyburn. I believe there was only 1 rat in statewide office, Jim Rex, and he left his position in a failed attempt to get the rat nod for Governor.

If the crappy state of Illinois could get even halfway to where South Carolina is, that would be a huge accomplishment.

I wasn’t criticizing South Carolina I was pointing up your lack of knowledge on the matter. Don’t get pissy.

Where’s the lack of knowledge? What I stated was factual.

You make it sound like they voted out multiple democrats from Congress and the statewide offices. They did do that but it was years ago. In 2010 they voted out the 1 remaining White democrat in Congress and the 1 rat in statewide office ran for another office and lost in the primary and GOP picked up his office but it was an open seat.

Whatever, nothing to fight about. Have a good day.
