President Obama is saying that because the most popular rifle in the United States is rarely used in crime, it should be banned.

This is a significant part of why "gun control" is toxic for politicians.

Oh, do they want so badly to rid us of our guns, and not for our own protection or thier humanity toward thier citizenry.

I doubt that 1 AR15 has been sold here.
A fully automatic military assault rifle?

Or something that looks like one without the auto feature?
Same thing with the AK

I love the things! The left loves diversity and the AR platform is one diverse machine.

I hope lots are sold...the more the merrier.

not a fan of the poodle shooter myself.

more of a wood and steel man, then a plastic and aluminum guy.

but God bless you all.

Anybody see the show ‘Sons of Guns’ where they built a pnuematic pump (or something like that) on the AR-15 platform? It looked sweet I wonder if it ever made it production?

Wow, I was going to step in and comment on the perp’s collection, and how it was a representation of the collection that every enthusiast would have with the proper funds would have...

and I stumbled into a “clip vs mag” and “what does AR stand for” pissing match.

The AR-15 is typically the higher end of the sports rifle crowd. The Ak variant sports rifles are a bit cheaper and vary in levels of qualify reflecting the price.

I'm not so keen on an AR-15 knowing the requirement for constant maintenance and the issues that plague it if one does not follow a ritualized maintenance regiment.

That being said, give me something that will pop through CBS in one shot and reach and touch the target behind it.

I remember back in the early 1970s dealers could not give away an AR-15 (except to me!). All everyone wanted were hunting rifles. When I showed them my AR they would say...”But will it knock down a deer?”

Then Mel Tappan started his survivalist column in Guns and Ammo magazine and the world changed. Everyone wanted military style semi-auto rifles.

I bought my first AR-15 back in 1970, a M-1 carbine (Inland) back in 1971, and one of the first Ruger mini-14s in 1976.

Wish I had kept them but I also hate starving.

According the FBI, of the 199 homicides recorded in Alabama in 2010

My jaw drops.

Chicago alone, the gun control paradise, had almost that many, for the first 6 months of this year.

I recall being on the local range thirty years ago with my Colt SP1, and I'd be the only guy there with a Mattel -- everything else was blued steel and wood (except for the occasional Nylon 66).

How times have changed. Now you go to the range and half the rifles on the line are ARs.

Bwahahahahah!

They want to ban the Barret 50 BMG too, although a 50 BMG has NEVER been used in a crime.

According the FBI, of the 199 homicides recorded in Alabama in 2010, handguns were used in 112, hands, fists or feet were used in 17, knives were used in 23....none were committed with a rifle.

Since the Brits have banned guns, "Putting the boot in" is the #1 method of homicide.

In Scotland it is the blade.

The other jerk is saying that now also.

I’d like to get one in .308 caliber. There is something about a .223 that doesn’t impress me.
