Boston Mayor to Outlaw Chick-Fil-A
Townhall.com ^ | July 22, 2012 | Kevin Glass

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino wants to restrict a single private business, Chick-Fil-A, from opening any franchises in Boston. His reported remarks were,

“Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston. You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population. We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion.”

Chick-Fil-A has come under fire from progressive groups for donating millions of dollars to pro-family organizations over the past few years. This, according to Mayor Menino, counts as discrimination.

Meanwhile, the National Organization for Marriage is promoting "Eat at Chick-Fil-A Day" for Wednesday of this week.

Please join me this Wednesday in supporting this courageous company, while at the same time sending a powerful message of support to every individual and every company with the courage to stand for marriage.

Chick-Fil-A, for their part, put out a statement that read:

The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect – regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender. We will continue this tradition in the over 1,600 Restaurants run by independent Owner/Operators. Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.

Chick-fil-A is a family-owned and family-led company serving the communities in which it operates. From the day Truett Cathy started the company, he began applying biblically-based principles to managing his business. For example, we believe that closing on Sundays, operating debt-free and devoting a percentage of our profits back to our communities are what make us a stronger company and Chick-fil-A family.

Our mission is simple: to serve great food, provide genuine hospitality and have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.

And for this, Mayor Menino would ban the restaurant from Boston. Right now, there are only two Chick-Fil-A restaurants in Massachusetts: in Burlington, Mass. and Peabody, Mass. Northeastern University was considering a franchise for their student food court, but the students of Northeastern will have to go elsewhere for their chicken sandwich cravings for the foreseeable future.

What's more, these types of boycotts are incredibly silly. It's impossible to keep track of what company or CEO is donating money to or supporting a cause that you don't support. As was put succinctly by Jonathan Merritt at The Atlantic:

So should the 45 percent of Americans who oppose gay marriage opt for Chips Ahoy! instead of Oreos? Should they begin shopping at Belk instead of JC Penny? If they did, it wouldn't make any more sense than the endless failed calls for liberal consumers to boycott Urban Outfitters, because its owner is a conservative and Rick Santorum donor, or to not order from Domino's Pizza, because it was founded by a Catholic conservative who helped fund anti-abortion causes.

Those M-Ass-a-Chew-er homos only tolerate the deviants. I’d tell them where to stick a chik-fil-a ,but I think they’d like it.

Just checked and there is a Chick-Fil-A about 7 miles from me. I'll go there and buy numerous entrees and eat them all week.

Fine. Do what Walmart does then - set up in the next town over, preferably just over the line from the city that ‘banned’ them. Then what happens is the town that banned them has their overpriced local businesses get hammered, their tax base drops because nobody is buying anything in their town any more. The next town over is getting all the business, revenue and benefits that they said no to.

Open up a Chick-Fil-A just across from the Boston city limits, watch it flourish with business drawn from Boston. Watch Boston gnash its teeth because of all the money they’re now losing.

Excellent article by Ken Kaplan:

http://www.examiner.com/article/boston-mayor-menino-tells-chick-fil-a-to-go-elsewhere?cid=rss

In 2001, Menino personally intervened to help stop a chain drugstore from opening a few blocks from a pharmacy owned by a close friend and political supporter.

In 1993 when running for mayor, Menino pledged to serve “only two terms, and that’s it for me.” In 2001, when Menino ran for a third term, he clarified “I promised I’d serve two terms - in every century.” Menino has now served 5 terms.

Surely Iowahawk is, at this very moment, working up a little ditty to be sung to the tune of the MTA song popularized by the Kingston Trio!

Genesis 13:13
Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.

Genesis 18:20-21
20. Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and
their sin so grievous
21. that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."

Genesis 19:4-7
4. Before they had gone to bed, all the men
from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house.
5. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them
."
6. Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7. and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing.

Psalms 12:8      The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.

Ain't this just FABULOUS??      More?

Isaiah 3:9   The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

2 Peter 2:13b  Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

Ezekiel 16:49-50
49. "`Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
50. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

2 Peter 2

 1.  But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
 2.  Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
 3.  In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
 4.  For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell,  putting them into gloomy dungeons  to be held for judgment;
 5.  if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
 6.  if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
 7.  and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men
 8.  (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--
 9.  if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.
 10.  This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature  and despise authority.   Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings;
 11.  yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord.
 12.  But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.
 13.  They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done.
Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

But there IS hope!!!

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

 9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

If you could NOT change, you would be in most pitiful shape...

The definition of hypocrisy.

Someone needs to clue Mayor Menino in to the TRUTH! Chick Fil A doesn't ask customers who they have sex with, so how could they possibly discriminate against homosexuals, if they don't know who they are?

I used to keep stats on the percentage of mistakes on orders from various fast food restaurants. I never once encountered a missing item on a Chic Fil-A order.

The food is excellent quality, and every employee I’ve encountered has been pleasant and friendly.

Saw the owner of the company on Huckabee tonight, an elderly gentleman who explained his religious belief.
Please support the company and go to the website to make it known.

“Banned in Boston.”

The heirs of the New England Puritans have lost their Christian faith and morals, but they still have the “Puritanical” sense of indignation, intolerance and selective moral outrage. They still see themselves as the shining City on a Hill, but the city is now modeled after the city of Sodom rather than Jerusalem. In their “reverse morality”, a normal restaurant, run by normal, devout Christians, must be “banned” from their midst.

Ah, good old Mumbles Menino strikes again. No Chik-Fil-A in our town. And no pharmacies that might give competition to the ones owned by one of your major political supporters. Ahem.

Corrupt little Napoleons seem to be springing up all over these days. Think I’ll go to Chik-Fil-A and drown my sorrows with a chicken sandwich.

Willard Romney owns this debacle.
He is responsible for opening hell’s gates by enforcing HIS homosexual agenda on the masses in Massachusetts.

The point of this is not to destroy one particular pro-family franchise, the mayor has no legal basis for keeping a restaurant out of his city, and he will lose in court.

The real purpose is to show that opposition to homosexuality has dire consequences and to scare other busines’s into line. I bet the next CEO will think twice before passing judgement on homosexual marriage.

Have you ever heard of a conservative mayor threatening to ban a pro-gay business from his city? Yeah me neither. That is why they always win, they claim to have the moral high ground, convince the public that this is the case, and use their self created moral authority to crush opposition.

Might I expand your question: Mr. Mayor, what other businesses have you outlawed.

Walmart, actually. This was only a few months ago. As far as I can see, Menino keeps getting by a combination of a powerful machine and the fact that those who announce against him tend to be such complete moonbats they make Menino look moderate!
