Nancy Pelosi: Democrats should skip the convention By: Tim Mak July 18, 2012 07:59 AM EDT
House minority leader Nancy Pelosi says that Democratic members should stay home and campaign in their districts rather than go to the partys national convention in North Carolina.
Im not encouraging anyone to go to the convention, having nothing to do with anything except I think they should stay home, campaign in their districts, use their financial and political resources to help them win their election, Pelosi said in an exclusive interview for POLITICO Lives On Congress, a new weekly show to be streamed live on POLITICOs website and broadcast on NewsChannel 8 on Wednesdays.

The California Democrat suggested that since Barack Obama is an incumbent, there is less of a need for Democrats to attend the convention.
We nominated a president last time. We have an incumbent President of the United States. Were very proud of him. There certainly will be enough people there to express that pride, but Im not encouraging members to go to the convention no matter what the situation was, because they can be home. Its campaign time. Its the first week in September, she said.
In addition, Pelosi also wouldnt commit to serving in the leadership of the 113th Congress.
I wouldnt assume anything, she told POLITICO editor in chief John Harris and reporter Lois Romano. I would just assume that Democrats would win and we would stop the obstruction of the Presidents agenda. I think its fair to say that most people dont have the faintest idea about leadership races in the Congress.

The democrats are losing their water...
On the other hand, Obama probably doesn't care if they are there or not...he ignores Congress anyway and has no use for them. Heck, I hope BO doesn't even show up...and just sends Biden, like he did for the NAACP convention. I am sure it is more important for him to visit some little high school crowd, as he has been doing, so he can entice the gullible youth with his jibberish.
Set Up.......To account for the “projected” low turn out !! Exactly. Democrat thinking....when in doubt, LIE. Then the mediocre main stream media will pick it up and run with it.
She knows the dems can kiss Obama, senate and congress seats good by.
But, this almost feels like something is up. It is almost just too weird. 2 months out from a Presidential campaign and they are dissing the last rally push?
When is the last time any party dissed one of their Presidential conventions? A handful here or there, but the DNC party to tell folks to stay home and campaign?
Desperate or Devious. I don't trust them...
hats off....just pure brilliance
Funny how a venerable who's who roster of key Democrats in West Virginia and SW Pennsylvania have already figured that out.
And sorry I can't answer your question about PA because we moved back to Texas 8 years ago. I just couldn't bring myself to change my name. If I were to guess I would say we have a better than average chance in PA, but that union mentality is strong there, as well as the cheating in Philly that dominates the State.
“Dont want any embarrassing questions floating around in the national spotlight, now do we?”
In other words: Stand away from the train wreck called obama.
The jackass convention is 1-1/2 months from now and they are saying this now???
This tells me that Obama, ObamaTax, the dem message, and the economy is Kryptonite to them. I bet Pelosi is getting a TON of feedback from other dems ( not on the list) that are not showing up. And again, their convention is 1-1/2 months out. Panic? I think so. If they thought they had a chance to win this, they would really pump the convention and make everything look great and positive.
NO, they (Democrats) can’t stomach the thought of taking another white-guilt adoration trip to praise Messiah Hussein(BTW, what’s the Muslim word for Allah’s version of Messiah?).
My big, big question for the masses is: What’s Obama going to do, how is he going to recharacterize himself in front of so many disparate groups.
Blacks, white liberals, rabid Democrats, queers, OWSers, Unions, et al? I mean, he can’t get down-with-the-rap / down-wit-da-struggle spiel while simultaneously limping his wrist whilst liltingly lisping out “Look for the Label” song, can he?
Excellent. LOL
I love your convention schedule.
That’s great.
An even better idea would be to cancel the televised coverage of the convention. Anyone who wants to can watch on YouTube, or they can listen to it on the radio.
What I find very bizarre is the bastard communist Muslim puppet usurper is virtually guaranteed to lose in a landslide, yet runs completely unopposed by other rats. I guess he thought Cain and Palin would win and we saw what happened to them.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t politicians live for conventions and schmoozing opportunities and networking and all that???
All of that goes on at conventions, in addition to the housekeeping chore of re-nominating Obama and Biden.
Has there ever been another case, in which a leader of a political party tells her membership that they should skip their party’s convention?
Some things don’t pass the smell test, and this is one of them. A party leader telling her people to avoid their party convention is something I never thought I would hear. If Obama is so wonderful, wouldn’t they all want to be there for his big moment???
