"For the first time in their long campaign slog, independent polls are showing the so-called movement candidate, tea party favorite Ted Cruz, leading the GOP establishment favorite, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.
They are trying to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison in the U.S. Senate and face off once again in the July 31 runoff election.
If less than a million people vote and Cruz wins, hes likely to have coattails, said Mustafa Tameez, a Houston political consultant. Hell pull in a lot of the movement candidates.
Cruz has insisted all along that his supporters have the enthusiasm, and a new survey suggests that he may be right. The survey, by Wenzel Strategies, shows Cruz leading Dewhurst 47 percent to 38 percent with two weeks to go. Dewhurst won the first round of voting by 10 points but did not get the 50 percent required to avoid a runoff..."

Kay is a bit liberal for my tastes, but she has done a few good deeds in over the years, and you are right, they are all decent people, but I believe I’ll go for Ted as well.

Dewhurst is running non-stop negative ads that are poorly done, with a bad edit. He airs Cruz’s voice with a a quote that is obviously cut in the middle of a sentence. Since it is obvious, it leaves people wondering what Cruz actually said. It makes Dewhurst look bad, imo. All that money he has spent on that ad has had the opposite effect it seems.

“This is great news for the nomination, but how does Cruz stack up vs. prospective dem opponents?”
This is Texas, where we vote Republican. Whoever wins this runoff will be our next Senator.

Ted Cruz may end up on the Supreme Court one day.
I would put him on the Court if I were elected president.

“LOL.... This is Texas Scott. We dont elect Democrats down here Bro. Well, maybe except for Constable and a couple of County Commissioners.”
You need to suffer through living in Austin awhile. This place crawls with insufferable, condescending, libtard Obamabots.
And it seems only a matter of time until the whole state is another California, unless Republicans can demonstrate to Latinos that conservative politics is in the best interests of Latinos and their children. It is in their best interests; but when you are at the bottom of the economic ladder, it can be really hard to see that.

Every day we Texans must endure more of the steady stream of vile mud-slinging emanating from David Dewhurst, attempting to vilify this fine young conservative, Cruz.
Never any positive message about what Dewhurst stands for or will accomplish if elected.
He shouldn’t wonder why he is sinking so fast in the polls.

Karl Rove and Dewpiss have used every dirty trick against
Cruz. It ain’t working Karl.

I'm so sick of Dewhurst. He's had one ad that he's run at nauseum in which he's done nothing but tell one lie after another. EVERYBODY knows it's a load of bs and now... what's he doing? Using that ad as his source for a couple of new ads that are again, nothing but friggin lies, all about Cruz.
I've gotten to the point now where I either mute the tv or change the channel when his ads begin. We can't keep romney from buying the White House but we can keep his minion Dewhurst from buying a Senate seat.
Cruz is, in my opinion, right for me, the state of Texas and the United States.
I'm definitely going to be voting for Cruz and I haven't been polled.

Dewhurst has been a major ally of our uber RINO House Speaker Joe Strauss. Indeed. He also seems to have similar connections in DC. This is from The Examiner:
Late last year, Dewhurst held a reception at the townhouse of powerful lobbying firm Podesta Group."
Yes, that's those Podestas.

Just asking... with the increase the mexican population and the fact a fake “moderate” like Ron Kirk gave John Cornyn a contest for awhile in 2002.
But, I’ll take yer word for it!

You need to add Mayors of major sanctuary cities to your list of Constables and County Commissioners. Been a while since Houston had anyone as Mayor who wasn’t a liberal. At least there is a limit on the number of terms they can serve but seems like each time there is an election, the new one is further left than the old.
One of the problems I see that we have is that many of the Republicans elected to the State Legislature really should have a D after their name.

Two facts make my vote for Cruz a sure thing: 1) Dewhurst being tied at the hip to Strauss; and 2) Dewhurst’s relentlessly negative campaign against Cruz, with nothing about what Dewhurst stands for or plans to try to do (other than “I’m a life-long conservative....”).
Dewhurst’s negative ads make him sound a lot like Obama - “pay attention to the other guy and what I say about him, nevermind about me or what my record says I’ll do in office.”
Screw the establishment Republicans - I want someone who unabashedly stands up for the Constitution and the people of this country, not someone who has been training to be an inside-the-Beltway, RINO, non-entity since birth.

Anti-Cruz SuperPAC Receives $2.5 Million - We Must Fight Back!
Dear Friends, Just as we predicted, with the news of Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz's good poll numbers in the Texas US Senate race, the 'business as usual' political establishment is in a panic and has dumped $2.5 million into an anti-Cruz SuperPAC to try and take out our candidate with two weeks left in the race.
It is clear that momentum is on our side, but we can't let up with 15 DAYS to go until this important election. The Dewhurst campaign and his political establishment backers are in...

Congressman Gohmert was a guest on an early-morning radio show here in Atlanta last week. I was very impressed. I wish he were my Congressman instead of Tom Price.
btw, I'm also a Neugebauer fan.

Honestly, I can only go by what the candidates profess to be their stand on the issues. Hard to know what is truly in a man's heart.
That being said, Dewhurst has been in office for quite sometime here in Texas, he has a record to look back on.
Not a bad record, but a few issues that concerned me the most is, sanctuary cities, border/immigration issues, In state tuition's for kids of illegals.
Dewhurst being the Lt. Gov. could have led the charge to make real changes here...and didn't.
Time for a new face. Cruz seems to be the most conservative.

LoL, “establishment” candidate is translated around this neck of the woods as “politician with a history of winning”.
